RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
Thanks a bunch... nothing left to do but hook up the nose gear steering and the throttle. I was hoping for a fly day this coming Sunday, but winds are forcasted at 14 to 28 mph. I'll keep tracking the weather until the last minute. Glad you like the logo (circular initials wrapped in Warlock Wings). My wife hates the Warlock Wings, but they're staying on the airplane.

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
I Finally finished my Utter Kaos Kit from Blue jay Models. I just need to balance it, and break in the engine. I deviated from the plan and put an aileron servo in each wing. This is my first completed Kit. Hope it fly's like my tower hobbies Kaos.
The kit contained fuselage sides that were full length and the wing saddle was precut. The ribs had 1/4 inch holes for a wing jig which I used to complete the wings.
The fuselage and tail assembly were constructed by pinning the parts over clear plastic, over the plans, to a piece of dry wall on the bench top.
The table top is 24"X 48" which is too short. I'm going to make the table top at least 60" long. this will allow the plans to stretch all the way out flat, and more room on each end of the plane during construction. I did not use the magnetic method of building as it was much more expensive than dry wall.
Engine: OS65AX
Servos: JR DS 821
Receiver: JR R790
Battery: NO BS 6.0V
Weight: 6lbs 6oz

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
I am sorry to report that a sudden crosswind gust on maiden takeoff, pushed my Kaos60 into a fence post for the safety fence. Took out the leading edge, LE Sheeting in that area, and shattered 3 wing ribs. Also sheared off the two 1/4" dowels securing the forward part of the wing to the fuselage. I am totally bummed!

thats sad!!!
My first ever flight with a kaos, 60 powered(gold head with no muffler)yes that long ago, had a battery go out under a min. into the first flight. I stuck it into a piece of Ct.lost everything up to the leading edge. That kit was one Joe himself cut. I rebuilt it an flew for many years. My mentor had a guy at his work 20 straighten the crank. Youll fix it an get back into it an be very happy with it.

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
Fortunately, I made a set of 1/16 ply rib templates, so I've already restored the fractured ribs. Will splice in a replacement LE and replacement LE sheeting in the area affected (top and bottom). The spars appear intact. Going to have to cut thru the fiberglass reinforced center section to replace the dowels. The fuselage and tail sections appear to be undamaged. The belly pan under the wing was not glued on but fastened with a dowel up front and a screw at the back - it also appears undamaged. Then I'll need to re-cover the wing sections that I stripped and re-paint. I tried to avoid cutting off the trim stripes, we'll see if that will work or not. But, short answer, I think it will repair reasonably well.

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
Outstanding! An entire thread on Kaos type airplanes? Gotta love it!
I'm back in the hobby since the late 80's and my last plane was a Great Planes Kaos 60 that I built to perfection. Flew unbelievably well until planet Earth got in the way. Balsa wood explosion, cussing, crying etc. Had to pull the engine out of the red Alabama mud about 10 inches deep. Nothing else survived. ALL my fault for sure.
Wife... Kids... No more R/C for me until now. Kiddos are all growed up and NO wifey! Anyway, getting back in to the hobbywith the Hangar 9 P-51 PTS RTFand will be following with a Great Planes Escapade 61 ARF so I can get back to it quickly... BUT my heart has been and always will be with the Kaos which led me here to thisthread!
I guess my first question pertains to the Bridi/Bluejay kits. I absolutely love to build so I'll be ordering one of these kits very soon. I have my choice narrowed down to the Dirty Birdy 60 or the Utter Chaos 60. Besides the obvious visual differences are there any major flying differences between the two? I'll never forget how great that Kaos 60flew and would like to have the same again but darn if that Dirty Birdy isn't beautiful.I imagine they will build about the same and I have a strange feeling I will be buying both of these kits in the end. Power will probably be O.S. 75 AX. I may also get the Tower Chaos 40 ARF with the O.S. 46 AX just to get one in the air while I'm building one of the Bridi kits. I have Kaos fever bad! Thanks

The dirty birdy has a thinner airfoil. So it tends to land slightly faster. They are all takeoffs of the original sun fly, an fly great.
Good luck.

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
Falcon 6667 (Vietnam 1966 and 1967?)
Well, I started on Tanks/Armor back in 1983. Basic at Ft. Knox, Germanyfor 18 monthsand then 4th Infantryat Ft. Carson. Got accepted to flight school so I went to Ft. Rucker for a year and then did 8 years as a Huey and Blackhawk pilot. 10th Light Infantry at Ft. Drum, 101st Airborne in Iraq for Desert Storm. Dustoff pilot in Korea for a year and finished in 1997 with the 101st again at Ft. Campbell.
Kinda miss it. Sure wish I couldv'e done 20 yearsbut Clinton made sure I wasn't able to thanks to the big drawdown back in the late 90's.
Still flying though. EMS Helicopter pilot here in west Kentucky. Can't complain. Kiddos all grown up and NO wife... Lot's of time for the hobby and flying season is here!
Randy
P.S. Going to pick your brain about that beautiful electric Kaos for sure. Love those ailerons too!

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
Well all the broken parts have been replaced. A little more filler, some covering and a little paint and it's ready for the second round. The 'roundish" repairs were access holes I needed to replace the sheared off 1/4" dowels.
oops - sorry, the picture wouldn't go.

RE: KAOS AND RELATED PLANES AND INFO
Randy,
The airplane will be ready so I've got my fingers crossed. The forecast is good for sunshine, but iffy for wind (and you know I'm going to be careful about wind).
Thank you for those very encouraging words about my Kaos60.
Greg
Followup: We're ready for a second attempt! The wing closest to the camera is the repaired wing.
