RE: MK "Magic" Plans...
Wow! I was digging around some stuff tonight looking for a set of plans to a Goldberg Tiger 2.....and it just happens that I found the single sheet plan from my MK Models Magic 20 that I built 20 something years ago. I think I've got an OS 25FSR in it without a pipe as I seem to remember back in that day the "beginner" pattern class couldn'r run tuned pipes.
Anyway, I've still got the plane, it's probably only been flown about 10 times since it was built. Light as a feather, I'll have to share some pics.
Anybody remember a model from the early-mid 70's called a "Cutlass"? I've got one of those basically rotting in an outdoor storage complete with a probably frozen up Kraft 61 and a full set of Kraft radio gear.

RE: MK "Magic" Plans...
Well I competed in my first aerobatic comp in the weekend. I was out there to have fun but I came 1st with about 960 points. There were a few people who remembered the plane I was flying from years ago. I have been meaning to tidy it up but was told that this one is well known in the aerobatic circuit. It's not a true magic as the wings and stab are slightly different but they are whet it came with in the kit some 14+ years ago. My first round took 2 mins 30 of throttle above 1/8th throttle from starting the engine. My 3rd round was 2 mins. Hanno sure knew how to design. The thing I want now is the plans for the calypso at some stage.

Baldrick, just goes to show that 30 years of development hasn't meant that the models fly any better. I won last years North Island Sportsman series with the Superstar. Welcome to retro aerobatics.

Hiya Pimmnz.
I have changed email address. It's now [email protected]
I'm still keen on a copy of the plans you have.
Retro rocks!!!! And to think I still have a Deception and Dirtybirdy 60 waiting to get finished

Wonder how that Magic 20 flew? I'm digging around at my parents right now and just came across the Magic 20 kit that I never built when I was a teenager, along with an Ace R/C Super Pacer. Thinking these might make good electrics.

Hey Mark, I've been looking for a set of Magic 20 plans.
Do you think that I can get a copy?
Would be willing to pay for copy shipping or trade you, I have Arrow 60, Deception 60, Curare 60 plans.

RE: MK "Magic" Plans...
I ran into this Magic 60 last winter. It has flown, but very little. Probably had retracts then, but those were already replaced with fixed gear when I found it.
Rossi 60 RE with integrated pipe, running an APC 11x9.
I hope to test fly it soon - enjoy the pics.

RE: MK "Magic" Plans...
I thought I would revive this old thread which Dave updated nearly a year ago with his two beautiful models.
Does anyone have a digital copy of the MK Magic 60 (and/or 40) plans? Other than the 60, I believe the 40 and defintely the 20 were designed for side exhaust engines with an external pipe. I'm considering the 60 size for an inverted YS 61 AR.
Thanks, David.

RE: MK "Magic" Plans...
Hiya folks.
I have recently gotten myself a Magic 60. A used one at that...
However i cant find some info about CG on the internet.
So i was wondering if anyone here would like to share some info. I just need a good safe CG to get it safely in the air, then i'll trim from there.
Thanks in advance
John

The image base that CAsniffer put together has the construction articles for the RCM&E Magic in a downloadable form. You can see the cg off the plan. Ive measured it off the actual plan and its 4.5" (starting point) to 5.25" (optimum) from the LE.

So if I understand correctly, no one on this thread has a set of M60 plans?
Dave Windymiller? Dave Wood?
Thanks, David.

Do you happen to know if RCM&E still sells the plan and glass kit as shown at the end of the article?
David.

I purchased the RCM&E Plans for My My Hobby Store last summer.
http://www.myhobbystore.com/c/294/Pl...Aerobatic.html
I emailed them about the glass kit and they said no it's not available through them.
I was able to acquire the Magic 20 and Super Pacer from markw365. I wanted to use a 25vf-df in the Magic 20 and was bummed to find out it was originally for a side exhaust. I'm guessing there were restrictions for tuned pipes in the novice classes back then hence the side exhaust in most of the smaller pattern plans.
Thought you might like to know that the MK Skymaster 20 is for rear exhaust. I was able to get the Skymaster 20 plan and was going to use it for converting my Magic 20 to rear exhaust.

RE: MK "Magic" Plans...
I couldnt get the fibreglass bits. My top deck is wood and the cowl was made by a vac form company. They have my pattern so should be able to supply them at low cost [link=http://www.vortex-vacforms.co.uk/]Vortex Vacform[/link]
Cheers

Dave,
thanks for the info. I'm sure others will find it useful too.
Bryan,
many thanks for the email and plans. I haven't had a chance to look at them yet. I'll get back to you though.
