Looking great.

A week or so ago I did a little more work on the plans. The main thing was to draw the fin/rudder.

Thanks David,

I have only seen this aircraft in pictures and I am using your dimensions to workout an easy build kit. Here is want I've got on the fin and rudder:

Lay the frame out on a flat surface and CA the parts. Don't glue the rudder, it's only needed for alignment.

Use Titebond to glue the fin fuse balsa in place, flip over and glue the other ribs last with CA :

Angle sand to fit the fuse and try the fit:

Line up some 1/16" x 4" sheeting and mark the angle for cutting. Note how it makes a perfect fit with just two cuts. Prepare the sheeting halves by setting them aside and glue them together. To be continued...

Wow, that's looking awesome, cam-flyer.

The only thing I see that you've done differently are the vertical fin ribs. On the original plans (I didn't detail this on my drawings) these ribs butt up against a sub-le and sub-te. The sheeting is flush with the main LE. But, your method appears to work fine, too. Also, I think the fin TE is not wide enough to support hinges and the stresses that the rudder will put on it. Maybe just extra hinge blocks will do.

You're doing amazing work.

The ribs are ply and I added a strip of ply down the fin TE with cuts centered the ribs for hinges. The two hinges at the bottom will go into a little more wood. Kinda reminds me of my 55 Ford 100, looks like one on the out side until I raise the hood.

Well lets work on the nose a little to let it set. CA glue the first nose shape, then Titebone glue the remaining wood.

Sand to shape the front and back canopy hatch. The canopy is removable so be sure not to glue anything touching the fuse. Fit the supplied parts. Lay in the floor (C1), then the canopy shaper (C6). Push the shaper flush to back and top of the nose. Glue clamp ply squares to each side of the shaper to hold the formers C4 and C2 in place with tacking CA glue (Not a lot, just to hold in place). CA then Titebond glue former C3 to the floor C1. Do not glue former C3 to the shaper C6 because this will be done after the frame is removed. Titebond glue shaper C5 to the floor C1. Clamp shaper C5. Titebond glue over joints. Allow this to dry.

Working on the nose shape. Stick 1/4" scrap wood between nose shaper right/left for support. Paint on Titebond glue and add 1" square sanding balsa to both sides.

Taking the canopy frame out with the help of a saw blade to work it out. Do this as soon as possible.

At this point I cut the tip off of C6 and fitted a 1/4" cut of balsa with Titebone glue between the Nose Shape Left/Right. Sand the balsa to existing shape and fit the canopy frame. Check for canopy sheeting space and note where you need to sand. At this point you can determine if you are going with a plastic canopy or sheet the canopy frame. If you are going with plastic, fill the area with balsa and sand to shape.

Sheeting the canopy starting from the rear. Sand to angle C5 to allow the sheeting to bend. CA the rear of sheeting and using a flat table, work your way around the shape.

CA glue a 1/4"x1/4" stick down the trailing edge of the ribs while weighing down the stab, not shown. Titebond glue the tops where the sheeting will touch. Apply sheeting and weigh it down.

Sand the stab leading edge flat to ribs. Insert 1"x1/8" sticks through and down to the 1/4"x1/4" trailing edge stick. Note it's going under the 1/4"x1/8" stick. CA glue the 1/2" stick against the supporting rib. Mark where the hinges will go and notch the 1/8". Cut the hinge position in the 1/4" stick and push the hinge through.

Add a top 1"x1/8" stick to the hinges. Cut some 1/4" balsa from the template to use for the leading edge. Position and CA glue this to the leading edge ribs. Sand the top to shape for sheeting. Titebond glue the tops for sheeting and weigh it down.
