Good source of information!!

You can also use Singapore Hobbies old catalog (March 2008) for reference also:
(pdf download)
http://www.singahobby.com/Pricelist/...Mar%202008.pdf

Pages 18-22 is MK stuff..

Pages 27-27 are YS/Hatori stuff..

I'm sure this is an outdated catalog as SHS has even gone to a different website all together. It doesn't list much of this type stuff...

But it's still good as a reference anyhow.

Have Fun...

Darn! I wish I would have known these numbers before. So for the sake of the ignorant here is a few old Hartoi part #'s from a May 1992 RCM mag and the Current listed Hatori #'s from Toyko Hobbies.

Hey rv7driver going back any time soon?

Default RE: Hatori headers and mufflers

Is there anyone here who honestly knows the differences between these Hatori pipes and which ones to use on which engines?

#601 Muffler Tuned Pipe 60, Short Chamber
#650 Muffler Tuned Pipe 60, Long Chamber
#667 Muffler Tuned Pipe 60, Short Chamber
#668 Muffler Tune Pipe 60, Long Chamber
#700 Muffler Tuned Pipe 60, Super Long

I doubt they would have designed and produced all of these versions unless they were intended for specific uses.

Thanks,
David

Generally speaking..... the short chamber pipes are for the short stroke engines for high rpm. The long chamber pipes can be used on both short stroke or long stroke engines and are for more mid range to upper rpm range. The super long chamber is for the grunt pulling LS such as the Hanno and YS61LS. Good all around performance say under 10,500 rpm. Rumor has it the #700 pipe is the same as the Hanno pipe. As far as the numbers goes.... It more then likely has to due with over all pipe length. Much like the Mac pipes found here: http://macspro.com/tunedpipes.asp such as the 1050 (.45-.60) vs. the 1060 (.60-.75) pipe.

Thanks impactiq. I'm familiar with the use of different length pipes for different rpm ranges. What I'd like to know is what are the specific differences between these Hatori pipes. They offer two short and two long pipes. I'd just like to know how the two short ones differ and how the two long ones differ.

My guess is that one short is a quiet version and the other is not. And, the same with the two long pipes, one is muffled, one isn't. But, I could be wrong about all this.
