Hey Dhall,
Your BA sure is looking good. You must catch on to new things quick (like painting planes). I'm very impressed indeed....
Chuck, Sent you a PM so I would stop hijacking David's thread.

thx for the compliment david. i just research a lot, i'm very methodical. the king kobra is a good example. of course 8178 did the ground work for anyone coveting a BA. i referred to his thread a lot, to say the least.

i got a light coat of primer sprayed yesterday before i stopped. i saw a couple of areas in need of attention. actually i ran out of my mixed batch of 2 part primer so it worked out well. the perfect weather today called for flying so any painting this weekend had to wait until sunday.

it is a great day for painting. maybe too dry though, as the paint dried quickly. but the wing and control surfaces are ready for color.

i'm not having a lot of luck getting my graphics needs fulfilled. i've have sent out a scan of the plans and received proposals that aren't even close. does anyone have a recommendation for a good graphics artist?

after a week of pondering i decided that that the low humidity and too much thinning was the cause of the flat white finish on the wing last week. i wet sanded the paint smooth and recoated today. the thicker paint dried slower and flowed out much better. now to the color scheme layout which i've started. hopefully some wing color tomorrow.
i stopped in at the sherwin williams automotive paint store for more paint strainers and this is what i got. i've got strainers for the next 50 yrs.[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

the main wing is getting closer to receiving color. i will spray clear on the tape seams to prevent creep under the tape. the elevator still needs to be taped off before i can start spraying. i may try my iwata airbrush for sealing the seams with clear.

making some progress. no chance of the paint drying too fast today. the progress is very slow waiting for each mist coat to dry.

she's not perfect but not bad either. thank goodness this is a fairly straight forward paint job. the wingtip will get covered right back up for the upcoming blue paint work.

trying to make up my mind on graphics. how authentic should i make the BA? i'm thinking about adding some wing lettering. maybe Yoshioka's name?
