2nd BPA contest in HSV. AL
The 2nd BPA. contest is set for AUG 8,9,10 2008 in Huntsville, Alabama. At RCRC.
Practice on FRI. starting at noon,
Pilots meeting at 9am on sat flying to start around 9:30 or when the sun allows
The plan is to have a similar contest to the one we had great success with last year.
4 classes Novice, Sportsman, Advanced and Masters
Same patterns as last year posted on bpa site
72in (or so) wing span
1.2 motor limit
Novice no restrictions on aircraft (with in reason " no 40% ers that type of thing)

I'll be there, can't wait. Hope to have 2 new planes. Am working on Escape now, almost done, and waiting on an EU1-A.

Hi Gary, Tony;
Got the Escape flying and am trying to calm it down. To much over control now. Check out the find from Perry. I never thought I would own a Curare cause people want too much money for um. Got this VERY reasonably, and it's the all wood one. Makes it the MK model. Not very heavy.

Working Jason! Ryan said you would be here again this year even if he has to kidnap you!! LOL!! I know Don is planning on attending again! I think I will fly masters this year so I can have my rear end beat by another (different) pattern guru this time!!!!!

I'll be there, just have some planes handy. I might have to drive myself and might head up to TN for the Clover Creek contest right from there. Weekend before I'll be in Mass, so looks like August will be a busy, hot month.

May I respond for Gary and say that BPA is not that far established to require any membership. I feel that ALL flyers that love the older pattern planes, complete as flown before turnaround was shoved down our throats, is a member of BPA. Please come to the contest. You WILL enjoy it.

There is no membership, as the Bpa is a mindset. The mindset is flying older pattern planes non-turnaround and lets not forget if you like pipes and retracts. WE the organizers of the event would like to see all Bpa style aircraft fly but it is still to early to mandate such a thing as the aircraft are scarce and a little to pricey at this point. No one will be turned away!!!! If you have a plane that doesn't conform to the concept but like the idea of what we are doing, then come fly there is a place for you. Maybe next year you can scrounge a better suited aircraft for the idea we are trying to promote... by the way I fly AMA turnaround and like it to. The BPA for me is away to step back and take a breath and have loads of fun. Last year I got my rearend handed to me by Don Lowe and it will be an experiance I will treasure from now on. So pipes retracts or no pipes retracts come on out.
Some day there may be an official BPA organization but it will be done by someone other than me I have neither the skill or time to organize such a thing. In my eyes if you like the concept you are already a member.

Great kitfox1. Here is the BPA web site where you can find the pattern schedules. Practice, practice, practice. There were both types of your planes there last year.
