You would have to buy a separate all white fuse. These might come to life later down the road. Keep in mind how many of the modelers out there really know how to or have the ability to spray paint. You guys can, but the numebrs are seriously small. End result is you would end up with one all white fuselage you painted and trimmed out and one painted fuse from teh original kit and one set of wings. Do you think this would be worth it?

Definitely. A white fuse provides one with a canvas. What I'm not clear about though is whether the ARF will have a painted fuse!? I assumed it would be all covered.

The key point with this model is to have it sell in decent numbers to warrant bringing a second bird to life.

You should hold a vote here on the forum for "the next one"! Did I hear "go Japanese"!?

Hey John. What's the real scoop on the 7 ? Mark's color scheme is great, he did as much promo on the Phoenix serie's as Brown.
The new P-7 : Retract's installed ? With engine or without ? Surface's hinged ? Is it a no option unit ? Any advance info here appreciated, unless I missed the boat on how the package will be delivered.
Thanks,
Vince

Hi guys,
Trying to answer a few questions about the P-7.
Glass fuse fully painted in white, red, and blue.
Foam wing and stab, fully sheeted, covered in ultra cote; white, red, and blue. Covered in all white and then trimed with red and blue.
No cut in the nose for the motor, you need to do that.
Firewall is installed.
Wing mounts installed and complete.
Wing retract mounts in place for the Robart air up - spring down units. The metal electric retracts I showed you drop right in as well.
Square hole cut in bottom of fuse for nose gear unit; you have to cut for the wheel and strut when retracted.
Comes with fixed gear.
Separate aileron servos.
Single elevator servo with complete built Y pushrod.
All surfaces pre-higned I think. Worst case scenario is you will have to glue in the CA hinges. All surfaces are center hinged.
Fuel tank comes pre-assembled.
Fuse is painted with an automotvie grade paint and cleared.
All basic hardware is included.
I used JR9411's throughout mine.
Weight is under 8 pounds ready to fly with retracts!
It kicks serious HINNEY!!!!!!!
Electric retracts are nice. 5mm main struts and 4mm nose strut.
Adjustable axles or the struts are long enough if you wish to bend them for axles.
About a 1 second transit time.
Less than a 500 mah draw for all three units.
Overcurrent protection built in.
Sweet quality and the regular Horizon support you love!
Hope this helps.

RE: Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!
John,
Thanks for updating the guys on the P7 while I was out of town.
You are correct that the model will come with all surfaces hinged at the factory with CA type hinges and all control horns will be installed as well
We will be starting the instruction manual towards the end of the month and I will give you guys the heads up once we have it completed and posted to the web-site.
One correction to Johns specs above is that the wings and stab are fully sheeted, but they are traditional balsa rib construction and not foam cores. The stabilizer slides onto 2 anodized aluminum tubes and is glued to the stab fillets on the fuselage. Looks very clean and strong.
The wing is one piece and makes for a rather long shipping box.
Also the belly pan is fiberglass with a hard point under the surface of the glass to mount the tuned pipe.
We had the P7 out for a dealer days demo earlier this year and it was quite enjoyable watching the boys (Quique, Mike M, Peter G, & John) fly the model they all looked like they were reliving their youth.
The electric retracts that John mentions are really sweet and John has done an awesome job on the engineering. This really make the retract installation truly Plug N Play
Our new Evolution small case 60NX on a MACS tuned pipe is the perfect combination for the P7 This is one of the projects that drove the development of this new engine with the intent of using tuned exhaust system.

Are they really going to take that long to get here? So if I was planning a 60 size model build that I wanted to use these in I should expect it to be a next winter project?

Fuel Tank Location: Included here is the Phoenix 7's grandfather plan. If you look directly behind the firewall, right in front of the wing LE, you can see where the fuel tank's are located in the Phoenix serie's. The tank will rest at the top of the fuselage.
At the CG area, the servo board will take up that room. Picture's here show a P-7 front area, then the proto that Mike McConville showed in Illinois. These guy's at Horizon have covered all the base's.
There is no electric planned for this new bird.

Besides, where and how would you connect up the requisite Perry or Robart fuel pump?

Thanks,
I missed that. I would prefer electric, but I may just make an exception for this bird Has there been any mention of a muffled tuned pipe for the small block 60 yet? I remember the patern guys when I was a kid flew muffled pipes and they were really quiet. I always wanted to try that setup.

Jonny
You must have missed it. Yes, a Macβs system can be used.
Check very first post. Other options would be the Jett-Stream Tuned mufflers and Performance Specialties Ultra thrust Mufflers,
both similar and just bolt on. These systems are user error free and make comparable power to full Tuned Pipe systems.

Here are some Tach numbers, that RCU member Motorman37 has gotten with the 60NX.
He has been doing some work with this motor. This seems like a very good little powerplant.
Stock .60 NX w/stock muffler
APC 10-8 12,800
APC 11-6 12,600
Stock .60 NX w/Jett muffler
APC 10-8 15,200 Peaked
APC 11-6 14,800 Peaked
Modded .60 NX w/Jett Muffler
APC 10-8 15,500 Peaked
APC 11-6 15,200 Peaked
MA 10-7 15,900

RE: Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!
David,
The 60 NX is a 60 size engine in a 40/45 case.The stroke is 21.5mm with a bore of 24mm and in a 14oz package.
βIs the NX a short stroke?β I guess it depends on what you compare it to.
EVO 60NX B 24mm S21.5mm
EVO 61NX B 23.9mm S21.8mm
EVO 46NX B21.8mm S20.3mm
YS60 B 24mm S 22mm
YS61LS B 23mm S24mm
YS 45 B 21.8mm S20.0mm
TT PRO 61 B 23.5mm S 23.0mm
TT PRO 45 B 21.8mm S 20.0mm
TH 61 B 24mm S 22mm
TH 46 B 22mm S 19.6
OS 55 AX B 23mm S 21.5mm
OS 46 FX B 22 mm S 19.6mm
OS 61 FX ABL B 24mm S 22mm
The tach numbers indicate it reacts well to a pipe.

RE: Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!
I always think of the definition of a long stroke engine being the stroke has a greater dimension than the bore.
In the cases presented above, only the YS61LS is a long stroke engine.
