Jonny

You must have missed it. Yes, a Mac’s system can be used.

Check very first post. Other options would be the Jett-Stream Tuned mufflers and Performance Specialties Ultra thrust Mufflers,

both similar and just bolt on. These systems are user error free and make comparable power to full Tuned Pipe systems.

It looks like there’s another option for a minipipe for the 60NX, and to boot it matches the Evo’s Blue head and the Phoenix 7's paint scheme.

FYI
The Jett muffer is for 40-50 size engines is $60 and the .60-90 size is $85.

I wonder if the performance gain is equal.

I doubt if there is any difference except for the Blue anodizing, compared to the Red Jett Version.

It’s nice that HH/Evo and Jett have put this together.

Makes it much easier for some modelers, which might not be aware of the mini pipe option.

It will also be more readily available at good Hobby Shops.

It is nearly exactly the same..... but not quite half the price.
The muffler for the Evo .60 engine is similar to the Jett-Stream 40-60L muffler, which is $60
It is just customized for the rpm range a bit.

Here are some Tach numbers, that RCU member Motorman37 has gotten with the 60NX.

He has been doing some work with this motor. This seems like a very good little powerplant.

Stock .60 NX w/stock muffler
APC 10-8 12,800
APC 11-6 12,600

Stock .60 NX w/Jett muffler
APC 10-8 15,200 Peaked
APC 11-6 14,800 Peaked

Modded .60 NX w/Jett Muffler
APC 10-8 15,500 Peaked
APC 11-6 15,200 Peaked
MA 10-7 15,900

Nice rpm specs, but has anybody performed any DB sound testing of the .60NX with either the Jett style muffler or a tuned pipe ?

The reason I ask ? I put together a Lanier Predator pylon racer 6-7 years ago. It's powered with a Jett .50 and matching Jett muffler. Really fast, but also really loud !

I quit flying it because of the complaints (both clubs I belong to have db regulations.........a current "fact of life"). Now it spends most of its time parked in the hanger. I sneak it out maybe once a year, but I still get a lot of complaints.

I don't want to get my heart set on the Phoenix 7 with this engine package and then find out I wont be able to meet club db requirements.

Thanks,
Joe M.

Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!

The following was edited to provide ACCURATE brand information...

Update on availability: I had a chance to visit with Mike McConville at Toledo over the weekend about the etimated arrival of the new Phoenix 7 ARFs from Hangar 9...it still is set to be here around June. No additional details regarding price. I have placed an order with my local hobby shop for a kit and the retracts pictured below.

E-Flite electric retracts: Here is a poor quality photo of the new E-Flite retracts. They look great, operate smoothly and took the abuse of show attendees all weekend.

If you want the Phoenix 7 kit or retracts place an order via your favorite local hobby shop. The better the Phoenix 7 sells the greater opportunity there will be to have another classic pattern model offered in the future.

BERUSTY, did you happen to ask if the new retracts fit in the new Phoenix 7?

Hey Rusty,

Once again a bit of confusion with the brands. All of the electric retracts are branded E-flite. Hangar 9 does not have any retracts in their line up.

Scoop...Rusty can't get the brands correct!!!!

Rusty...you gotta quit writing incorrect information!

John- Wow, I need to do a better job of proof reading my stuff.

Andy- My posts are delayed because they are reviewed by RCU moderators prior to release.

Landeck- The E-Flite retracts are a direct replacement for the Robart "spring-down" which were on the prototype...they will fit perfectly.

Cindy (Al's Hobby)- Please call and order me the Phoenix 7 from Hangar 9 and the 60-120 size electric retracts from E-Flite.

OK. I am not trying to steal anybody's thunder here, but I have this info. The Hangar 9 P-7's part number is: HAN4755.

I am not the expert here, as far as I know, it is due sometime in June 2010. The retail is: $339.95. I am sure that Horizon employee's would have more solid information.

To clairfy this point, they are drop in replacement for Robart 510W gear which are not the same dimension as the 600 series. Note that they are also identical in mounting hole pattern to the old Rhom Air's as well as probably several mechanical sets. The wide retract "motor" does require a larger "strut" channel to allow it to fit much like would be required for pneumatics but not for mechanicals.

A 3-view drawing of Robart 510W gear is available on their site. It would be nice if E-Flite provided such information too so that one could plan and build to size accordingly.

Interesting on the white plane. One way that might work is to advertise a reduced price for the you choose the trim. Or include two trim schemes with the white airplane. YOU GET TO CHOOSE. But how many would actually want to do that? I wish I could say many but I would guess that most people in our club of 250 would go for the finished model.

An input here. Please, please, please, dump the clear/transparent coverings of some of your ARFs. No one in the club likes it. On the Ultrastick you can see right through and it can make it hard to tell what side is up during heavy manuvering. Personally, I hate the clear and have painted over every bit of it.

BTW looking forward to an entire line of electric retracts.
