I shipped the built wing UPS : $33.00, with added insurance $100.00. UPS cover's $100.00. South Fl to CA, took exactly 7 day's. By the time I had insulation, the box, etc., wing inside, it was around 7 lb's. Most of the weight, the sturdy box and insulation.

Hi,
About the Prettner Curare ARF: http://www.der-schweighofer.at/en/pr...51/modellsport
Production model nr 2 will go to a gentleman i Sweden that writes for the Swedish Model Flying Federation (SMFF) magazine, who are writing a series of articles about Hanno Prettner (total 8 articles, and I believe 3 or 4 has been published so far). So it will be a review of the model in that publication later (in Swedish only). I do not know the exact date the model will arrive here in Sweden and test be made but when the review is published I can translate it to english and post it here. Production model nr 1 will go to Mr Prettner himself of course. Above info is taken from a post on the F3A Sweden forum at www.f3a.se

RE: Scoop! Too early to release information.
Hi Guys,
Any news on the Prettner Curare ARF - I've just ordered two airframes, but haven't been provided with a delivery date as yet.
I'd be really interested in the experiences of others who have ordered and received this model.
Many thanks,
Greg

RE: Scoop! Too early to release information.
Thanks Daggets - that would be a disaster for me as I have paid 1300 Euro for two airframes with batteries, motors, speed controllers, servos etc []
The cost of not researching properly.....

Greg

RE: Scoop! Too early to release information.
To be honest, I'm an F3F slope pilot and just taking my first steps in pattern flying - I honestly thought that the ARFs built in China would be available within a short period of time, even if out of stock now. I didn't realise that the airframe wasn't yet in production. I've emailed Mirzeta today in the hope that I can change my order to the Sebart Miss Wind S50e. Time will tell.....
Cheers

"Hey Hanno the couriers just dropped off a bloody great big box!"
"A big box? What's in it?" (opens box) "Hey! An ARF Curare! Yippee! I always wanted one of those! They were the dog's danglies back in the day but I could never afford the MK kit! It cost an arm and a leg! I even thought of scratch building one from plans but now I'm saved all the hassle! Yippee!"

gkaraolides,
Yes that is funny the way You wrote it.
Maybe he was going to get the first production model just to see how it turned out, to be able to come with corrections and such before the main production started, that was what I was thinking about.

Hi,
Little update on Schweighofer Curare 60:
First 8 kits has been delivered. First kit (with electric motor) was deliveredto Mr Prettner himself.
Another 100 kits will be inat end of November according to this link:
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...6045052&type=3
(just paste the URL in Google translator from German to English)
Look at the Curare production photos - fuselages and wings all over the place. Great.
Nice kit...

ooooh, 100's of them! I guess that's the ARF world.
I especially like these 40 year old original prototype/new ARF comparison shots!
Looks like the new ARF conforms to the MK plans to a T... An interesting change Hanno must have made to this particular original proto is the outward downward rake to the rudder which is opposite the original plans and the new ARF. Alas, even Hanno's paint suffered from UV yellowing...

RE: Scoop! Too early to release information.
Is it just me or does the horizontal stab on the "original" look a lot bigger than on the reproduction? The distance from the leading edge of the stab to the leading edge of the fin is very different.
I just wonder how faithful the plans (all versions) are to the original after seeing this. Also given the different colour white on the rudder I'd say that was built and fitted to the plane as a modification after the fact.
Regardless of any differences, it's be a nice plane for any collection.

I believe the ARF's are all covered so it will remain to be seen what quality of covering they use. Given price and country of development, they likely aimed for a high quality standard.

Edit: I have been informed that they will be covered in German Oracover; what we call Ultracote on this side of the pond.

Press the green button "in den Warenkorb" (In cart).
Then go to shopping cart in upper right corner, then Proceed to checkout
and last You have to create a login and finish the order. Then sit and wait
to end of November or beginning December for delivery (hopefully).
Shipping cost to US I do not know. You do not want VAT added since You are
from US (so maybe contact them at [email protected] how to do in
that situation).
They write however on their shipping page
For all countries outside of the EU
For orders from non EU-countries we reduce our prices by the rate of Austrian VAT. You will, however, have to pay your respective import VAT at customs clearance.

As far as the finish of the proto model goes, it strikes me as a painted fuse and plastic (MK?) covered wing/stab/rudder. The rudder has the same colour white as the surfaces and since MK doesn't yellow, well, they all match.
