What's your REAL name. Have I been debating someone I know? This was a good contest you missed. We finally got things so they run pretty well now.
Even if you are an SPA member, you need a lot of people wanting the same thing for changes, and frankly it's just not something that 99% of the membership wants.

RE: world models intruder
Thanks Crank..... the Webra does indeed haul the coal. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the idle low enough to not make really high speed landings. Must be an air leak somewhere because it still runs too fast, even with the throttle barrel is fully closed. I ordered a new Webra TN-II to replace the old TN (which seized up for no apparent reason - no lean runs) as well as the new Perry carb I also tried. While I've got the engine out I'll closely check all the screws for tightness as well as the two gaskets these things use. I recall that I used a similar Webra Speed in the Troublemaker I flew in the 74 AMA Nats. In fact, the muffler I used in 74 is the same one I put on this Deception. (MAC's Flow-thru) The plane weighs in just shy of 9 lbs.

World Models Intruder. I like the 90R myself. That's the one I bought. Anyone care to speak to this threads topic?
That reminds me. On an air racing forum there is a motto that when an off topic post is posted to a thread, a little puppy dies! Maybe we need that here?
So to that; Hey Vince, did you take any pics of when you did your various canopies on the World Models Intruder ARF?

Chris - I am going to do two post's on the canopy's. Intruder 1-2 & 3. #1 was re-built, it has the balsa canopy, #2, is the glassed canopy, #3, just the regular canopy glassed. #2, the fuselage, fin, rudder, stab, is glassed, MK wing.
#3 stripped also. Some picture's were taken when I was using the OS 61 FX's, since that time, changed out to all OS 61 SF's. Some of these picture's may be repeated. Picture #3 here, is #1, which was crashed up at Apopka, a high speed stall, down into sugar sand. I re-built it, did a balsa canopy, then MK it. It is finished in photo #4. After that re-build, it has been the best flying Intruder of them all.
Shortly after these picture's, I changed engine's to the 61 SF's.

RE: world models intruder
Ed,
I have no problem with you guys knowing my name, but my name has had more than enough exposure on the Internet. I prefer to limit that exposure when possible. Many of you might be surprised to know how much exposure you have had. Just "Google" your own name and see for yourself. Nothing ever goes away.....

Thanks Vince. I like the look of that YS. I can see why they are so dear in the way they are made. I have no experience with them.
Thanks for all of the pictures. That gives me a great look into what I have ahead of me on my ARF. You do nice work.

David,
As long as you limit your signature to a pseudonym like "dhal22" (or in my case, "ChiefK") or a first name only, your privacy is much better protected. You done good.

RE: world models intruder
Well Ed, because IMHO, since I don't know the individual and his thoughts on putting his name out I did not think it prudent to do so. Especially given the ease in which one can look it up, sheesh! No jab intended toward you King A.(or you Ed).

Hence, PUPPIES. No one would hurt a puppy, so hopefully no off topic posts!
I have an Intruder ARF at my folks in Florida (I haven't even seen it yet) so I'm getting all of my info straight so I can get it going in a week. I'm going digital and will use my Magnum 91 4S for power. I'll use my SD-10 and one of those tiny little receivers Airtronics makes. Vince Crankpin has shown so many great pics that I now have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to do.
Would Tetra wheels be too much?

RE: world models intruder
Just got a WM Intruder from Airborne Hobbies. I have a engine choice of a Saito .91 or a Webra Speed .61 (Saito is my 1st choice) to power it. However, the tank supplied with the airplane is 320cc or just shy of 11oz, and the access point throught the former is pretty small. I can probably open up the former in front of the wing enough to get a 12oz tank in. What I'm concerned about is flying time with the supplied tank (or the 12oz tank) for the .91 4-stroke which I was planning to use. I'm pretty sure the Webra will give me 10 minutes on the 12oz tank. Anybody have any experience with the fuel consumption rate of the Saito?

RE: world models intruder
Crank,
I could see in the pictures you previously posted that you were running a OS .61. I really would like to see how you got the 12oz Sullivan in because that's exactly what I want to do as well. Please post a photo or two. While we're talking, how did that set-screw approach for the stabilizer work for you. Seems Like I screwed it in quite a way and didn't contact the rod. Did you ever completely attach the stab to the fuselage or did you retain the movable design?
Thanks,
Greg

Here you go Chief. I will get back to you tomorrow or tomorrow evening, big shin-dig gettin' ready to start here. I have to assist the cook, my daughter's birthday. You can see, the former has been modified, and the tank floor moved down just a little. I included a few more photo's, this Intruder when molding the canopy in, the latest Intruder in the red and orange, and Intruder #1 in flight. More later, honey do is calling.
More later,
Vince

RE: world models intruder
Thanks for the photo detail Crank. I note that you have a round Sullivan tank, I have the slant style 12oz tank. Mine may not be as easy to fit as your was. Have fun at the birthday celebration. Let me know about the stab questions tomorrow.

The engine's were changed to OS 61 SF's, shortly after the above picture's. Chief, the stab's are epoxied in from the get go. I think LE 3 degree's negative. If you are going to keep the stab adjustable, I would recommend using steel allen screw's back there. I have a build thread on RCU, showing stripping one of these Intruder's, recovering, and securing the stab. I just used info from proven trim, etc., of other guy's Intruder's.
