What 5 planes should be made ?
This is a quick survey to see out of this list what 5 planes should be made.. These are from the original molds. This is the same survey as on the CPF site.

RE: What 5 planes should be made ?
I have an Eclipse that I acquired from last yr's Perry swap meet. With an enclosed pipe and retracts it is everything we love about pattern planes except it is a taildragger. Although I could over come the taildragger aspect in exchange for the enclosed pipe and retracts.
That and the LA series would be of interest to me.
The biggest issue is my inventory. Don has made it so easy. I wanted a P-8, I got it, I wanted a UFO, I got it, I wanted an Atlanta, I got it, every time within a week of ordering. Add those to other kits I've acquired and I am now overstocked. But never heard of some of the planes on your list. Hard to vote for planes I've never heard of...........

Hi David,
No such thing as 'overstocked'
Check out the website listed above (Trentonrcflyers...) for a very thorough photo 'history' of pattern designs.
I believe all the kits listed above originated at R/C City (founded by Jim Graham). I have 1 (or more) of there catalogs somewhere here which has photos of all the finished airplanes.
I will search and, hopefully, upload the catalog.

PS man, is it getting easy to get classic pattern kits!
The Excalibur and the Malibu were not R/C City kits and only the Typhoon 1000 (not the later 2+2 or 2000 versions). Also, the Desire 60 was never a full fuselage - just the glass top deck and cowl plus foam cores (if memory serves...)

Will,
below is a picture of the FM fuse plan for the Desire 60. Did the R/C City kit include a glass chin cowl rather than the balsa built up version? I guess Scott might be able to answer this just as easily.
I wonder if there were heat issues with cooling the header and pipe in this exhaust setup...?
David.

Hey guys just my two cents worth. Disregard the Dr. Jekyll 11 or whatever its called. That was never a plane we designed or flew. The first time I saw one I asked what it was and then asked Jim to never make another one lol. They had some almost delta type wing on it and the one I saw fly looked pretty bad. I think the DJ and the original Jekyll were the two that were the most popular. The PHD was two meters and only had a inch and a half added to the fin post, NOT THE RUDDER.
I voted for the Summit 3 and Desire 120 and conquest 6 as well

If it isn't powered by a .60 two-stroke, I'm simply not interested. The terms "classic pattern" means different things to different people.
I'd be just as happy if there was a competition set up for bone stock Dirty Birdy .60's with fixed gear and mufflers only. Chances are, I would be the only entrant at such a contest.

Jeff,
Everybody is getting back into classic pattern. For glass & foam kits there is Don and now also Hobby Barn and RC City.
Maybe you didn't hear but YS will be selling short strokes again in the near future!

You really don't need a pumped engine to run inverted. What will be needed are the pipe manifolds that are manufactured to fit these planes.

I was successfully using the Perry VP-30 pump on a 50FSR powered Kaos until a prop strikeon a rough landing fractured the ceramic bearings, I installed, was like dropping a china plate. The pump worked flawlessly by the way.
One thingI think we are all going to need is thefelt covered klunksfor the tanks as at 14,600rpm there's considerable foaming, at least in my tank. Been searching aroundand have not been able tolocate one. Anyone know of a source?

According to Singapore Hobby most are sitll available. I just went to there and they apparently still have a bunch. Go here
http://shop.singahobby.com/?q=product/cat/Engines
then selecttheHeaders and Mufflers link under Engines onthe lefthand side.

With all the "new" classics, the new YS's should sell like hotcakes. :-)

Bryan take a look into these 2 felt covered clunks.
The OMI ELD Fuel Magnet Clunk and the
Lynx M.O.A.SFuel Tank Clunk.
