Birmingham RC /Club 40 RACE May 7,2011
Relatives, friends neighbors, Ladies and Gentlemen, Club 40 pilots,..its time to announce the Birmingham RC Club 40 pylon race event to be held Saturday May 7th,2011 located at Morris ,Alabama.
Modified RCPRO and Current Alabama Club 40 rules will apply. If you ask yourself what are the Alabama Club 40 rules, please familiarize yourself with the current Alabama C40 rules located in the C40 pylon racing section here on RCU, or feel free to ask here in this thread.
This will be a non sanctioned AMA Club 40 race. John McGowan will be the CD .
Minimum airplane weight is 4 lbs, 8 oz with a empty fuel tank. An air racing start will be used with the standard 30 second countdown.
Fuel will be provided by Bham RC for the day's events.
We will be utilizing the Hi- Low Green/Red stickers on the wing ( ID sticker provided at the race) .
Gates will be open at appx 7:30 am Saturday May 7th. Pilots meeting at appx 8:45 am and Racing will start appx 9:00 am or soon afterward.
Entry fee is $15.00 and lunch will be an additional $5.00 that will be some good yummy food off of our grille at the field.( where else can you go and spend $20.00 and have this much fun???!!)
Tech inspection and weigh in will be done before race start.
Raffle prize tickets will be available for purchase.
I am still flying on 72mtz on Channel 46.
If anyone else is still on 72 mtz, please post what channel # you are using to see if there will be any conflicts.
*****Also please post if you are coming to the race so I can get a close head count for lunch*****.
Speaking of lunch, Im gonna try and do something a little different at this race, just for the fun of it, how about we see who is 1st and 2nd in points at the lunchtime break and offer those 2 guys a really nice surprise lunch? The 2 pilots will still need to pay 5 bucks for lunch but this "upgrade to First Class" will be on me and I feel it will be very nice. The 2 guys who have made it to the top 2 spots at lunchtime will be eating like kings, I promise! I wont say anymore to let you guys keep wondering about this, so there ya go. And Tim no, its NOT those wonderful sausages, but they will be there for you and Sir Jamie to taste just the same.
Ok, fire away at me should you have any questions. Again, sound off to let me know that you are coming. I would appreciate that.
Thanks!!
John

Whats this "IF" Jamie decides to come stuff? He'd better be there! He has to prove that he can hold up his end of the trash talking stuff!! [X(]
Or is he wanting us to think he's just a little fluff with some hot air mixed in? LOL
I appreciate it Tim, looking forward to seeing yall up at Harvest.
Have you heard if Rick and Kim "the Bullhorn Lady" will be coming to Bham?

You got 'em. I'll be glad to bring the clock and radios.
If Jamie decides to come, I might can bring the portable PA system I'm working on. My car will be packed so I will need Jamie's trailer.

You know Jamie, he has to get "permission" from the boss to come out and play.....
He was alittle disapointed with his flying after I STOMPED HIM IN THE GROUND at our practice race. He was bellyaching about "the wind. the wind got me". Yeah, right. Superior flying skills and the BATPLANE got him! Next.
Bring it on! I'm ready to race this time!

Just so everyone knows, I'm planning on being at the B'ham race. No, I don't have to have permission because I keep her happy.............. And yes, I may have hot air, but I normally go around the pylons.............. And Tim, you may have beaten me in the race, but stomped??? As I remember it in the last race, there were two planes right on your tail and we kept you honest. If I could learn how to make the first turn, I may be a contender......

Ive had several folks inquire if we are still having our race this coming Saturday May 7th due the the recent tornado damage in our city and
the answer is YES... WE ARE A GO FOR THE BHAM RACE!!!
I know there are lots of people out there that are hurting in lots of different ways but coming out to the race may just be what they need to do a little good mental therapy for themselves for the day.
I WILL SEE ALL OF YOU SATURDAY!!!!!!

John,
I started charging the batteries for the clock and radios. Why am I mentioning this? Because we still don't have power at home and we are runnning everything off of our generator. Talk about power management! I'm charging a deep cycle battery while the generator is running and then using an inverter to power my chargers from the battery while the generator is then running the fridge and freezer.
The airplanes and radios will get charged Friday night before getting packed to ride to B'ham. Hopefully we will have power soon.
See you guys Saturday! I'll be ready!
