First Alabama C40 race of 2012-Alabaster RC March 10,2012
Friends, neighbors,relatives,...I am pleased to announce its time to officially kick off the 2012 Alabama Club40 racing season beginning with the first race of 2012 at Alabaster RC Club to be held on March 10th,2012 !!
The Alabaster RC Club, (Alabaster, Al) will host a Club40 race on September 24th,2011
David Phillips, aka D2 will be CD and Grande Poopah . email: [email protected]
Gates open at 7:00am.
Tech Inspection will begin at 8:00AM .
Pilot's meeting will be held as soon as all Tech Inspection is complete.
Racing will start ASAP after Tech Inspection and Pilot's meeting.
Fuel will be supplied by Alabaster RC Club.
Flying Starts will be used.
10 laps per race will be flown.
400 ft/ 2 pylon course.
Pilot's first pylon cut during race will result in pilot getting a 1 point/4th place score for that race. Should the same pilot have 2 pylon cuts in the same race, he will get Zero points for that race. As you can see, it doesnt really pay to cut pylons, ask me just how I would know that.
$15.00 Entry Fee OR Entry Fee AND EAT a great lunch for $20.00 total .
**** NOTICE**** PLEASE reply to this thread to let D2 know that you plan to attend so we can get an accurate head count of all pilots coming .**************** If not, you may not be counted in for the lunch count***************************************
Current Alabama C40 rules apply. Basically I will tell you that if you raced in the Alabama circuit last year with us and were tech inspected to be legal , you are fine as there were no rule changes for 2012 in this series . You can find the rules by looking back on last years threads located here in the C40 section of RCU.
I will hit on some of them if you need a refresher or are new to C40 racing and you are thinking about coming out to try your hand at some fun and tight racing action....
*STOCK World Models SkyRaider or LA Racer or Sanaloma kit built planes allowed. Maximum of 2 planes allowed per pilot, i.e, one primary plane and one back-up plane.
*Stock 40 size ball bearing sport engine,...NO designated RACING engines allowed such as Neslon, Jett,Rossi, etc.
Most pilots are flying the Thunder Tiger Pro 40 and are having really good success with this engine.
No porting, polishing of engine allowed. Really the only thing you can change on the engine is glow plug, bearings and head shim.
Stock muffler with baffle will be required. No drilling out the muffler stinger/outlet. Yes..., we check for that too!
* any size prop can be used as long as it is commercially available and has not been 'altered'.Simple balancing of prop is allowed.
* stock fuel tank or any commercially avalable replacement tank such as Dubro, etc is allowed as long as it is a MINIMUM of 6 oz capacity.
No bladder type tanks.
* Minimum allowed weight of complete airplane is 4 lbs and 8 oz with no full in tank. Yes, we WILL check the weight on your plane, dont even try it! LOL
Will try and fly at least 5 rounds ,possiblly up to a total of 6 rounds of racing, time permitting.
Plane will have designated lane color assigned to them ( high/low, red or green) once the starting roster is determined.
Points will be totaled after rounds flown and the TOP 8 Pilots will then fly off in the A and B Main races!!!! (This is where the action really heats up!!)
8 Places to be awarded. ...1st thru 4th for the A Main as well as 1st thru 4th for the B Main.
***Raffle prizes awarded with tickets available for purchase***
Lets kick off the 2012 racing year right with a huge bang and come out and support our area clubs . David always puts on a fantastic show for the pilots at hand. Its guaranteed to be a fun time !!
Lets load the parking lot up at Alabaster with vehicles full of pilots and planes for the kick-off race!!
***If you are a new pilot and have thought about Club40 racing before but just couldnt bring yourself to try it, please let one of us know a few days in advance and we will be happy to meet with you to help get your assembled plane set up properly so you can join in for some of the most fun you will have ever experienced before in your life!*****
Come out and join us!!
Any questions? Fire away......
Thanks,
John
ok,... after having said ALL that,... WHO'S IN???????????

I reckon I am going to have to dig the dirt dobber nests out of my carbs since my engines havent been started since last year!
I look forward to coming down to your house in a week and a half D2.
I have purchased some new hand held timing/lap counter clocks for the spotters to use and I will be bringing them to the race.
You guys better get ready, get all your screws tightened and do the once over on your planes.
I also hear thru the grapevine that Jim Andrews is ready to kick some "you know what" on the 10th. Hummmmmm......[X(]
Who else is coming???

Dave, a great race today. Lots of good close racing, low key, great lunch, and really good camaraderie.
Congrats to Brad Clayton on the overall win.

That guy in the blue shirt and white hard hat in the 3rd pic looks like he's had a few extra KrispyKremes, doesnt he?
Actually , I HAVE lost 14 lbs as of today in 6 weeks by NOT eating the KrispyKremes.
I think everyone there had a great time D2, I know I did. Thanks to you and to all the Alabaster volunteers for a good day.
Anyhoo, Thanks again Dave!!!!
And your welcome too Battman.Thank you for use of your clock.
We also need to give a huge THANK YOU to Ernie Duffey . Ernie caught the nasty stomach bug the night before the race but the morning of the race, he graciously drove all the way to Bham to deliver the fuel, then turned around and headed back home to rest. We missed you not being there Ernie.I hope you are now feeling some better.

Hi John,
Yes, I was getting better but washed out by Sunday afternoon. Thank you for meeting me in Gardendale. That saved about 1 to 1.5 hours from my trip and really made a difference to my getting home safely. This is the first time I have checked the Club 40 site since the race. I'm glad the race went well and wish I could have been there. I hope to see all you guys at Harvest on April 28. Attached is the flyer for the race.
