I have no clue why but Im still not getting any auto replies to these threads on rcu even though it says I am subscribed to them...weird.

Something interesting for Saturday down at Alabaster.....I see the Shelby County airport is hosting some full scale warbirds on display for the weekend, it may be the Collings Foundation with their B17 and B24 and a Mustang along with some others? Wouldnt it be all too cool to have a shot of some Club40 planes going at it and a B17 in the background picture as well?

Battman, go ahead and man up and buy me a 20 minute ride in the P51 for my November birthday please.....

stopwatches just in case anyone needs them.
Thanks!!!
John

Hey David,
Will, John and I got to see it Fly !! The 24 made a few passes over our head when they came in !! What a site seeing a B-24 ,B-17 and a P-51 flying !! I'm sure we will get to see them tomorrow as they will fly passengers for a fee..
The field is in great shape and the weather should be on the cool side in the AM but will turn off nice for the evening !!
Come on guy's lets race !

All I can say is "WOW what a fun day of racing " I think we had some of everything in this one, and it turned out to be one fine event !! We had 14 pilots to show up on one of the coldest days of the year !!! The temps heated up along with the racing and everybody had to shed their coats and get down to it . With only 1 mid air between Tim Bat and Will Swope and this was before the race started. Tim landed with No damage but Will lost his left wing. I've never seen anybody struggle to keep an airplane from crashing as Will did, he managed to fly around until he had to pull the power off and in she went !! Ugh.
We had 5 big pot's of Chili brought in for the Chili competition and I don't know how the judges picked the winner !! I tasted em all and not a bad one in the bunch. Jim Reining came out on top !!
I will post the winners and some pictures as soon as I can get everything unloaded !!
Great job Guys

At our club meeting in Tuscaloosa yesterday everybody was agreeable to having an informal race/practice day.The consensus was we could fly a practice meet and then have a pot luck supper where everyone brings a dish.I do however, need to get a date approved and have some gauge of the interest level. My thought is perhaps the Saturday after Thanksgiving,November 30th or Dec 7 but as always we are open to discussion.

Let me know your thoughts,
Will

My airplane suffered a near fatal black mark on the prop during the mid air with Mr. Swope's plane. Greg Doe and I looked over the carnage of my airplane and we came to the conclusion that it is rebuildable. I'm thinking that a pencil eraser may remove the black mark on the APC prop that was caused when the prop sliced through the wing and finally hit the wheel. It will take some serious work but I think that my plane will fly again........

Awesome flying Will! I got a video of the landing and will try and edit and post it this week.

Great race event! What was really fun was telling the pilots during the race what they were missing that was flying overhead. During the heat of battle we would describe things like "Wow! Two P-51s are flying right overhead. You should see it..........what lap are we on?".
