Getting ready to go test fly my new Skyraider. Worked this weekend to get it assembled. Put it on the scales and to my surprise, it only weighs 3 pounds 32 oz. This thing should be really fast. Especially with the 11 X 8 prop.

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE BRAND OF FUEL THAT WILL BE USED?
WILL FUEL BE FOR SALE AT THE FIELD ON FRIDAY?

I watched some of the videos on Youtube of the 2 pole racing. I am trying to figure out how you guys get your C40 planes to go that fast. I think I am in trouble.

Sorry James, thought I had sent you a pm last week. We will be racing with VP Powermaster
15% and will not be selling it Friday. I use Omega 15% when practicing and will be more
than happy to share some Friday
Thanks, Will

Ever since RCU went down the tubes, I haven't been checking in here as often as I use to. I plan on attending the race on Saturday, but only as a spectator again (wont be flying).

Oh ,.. so Mary Scully is coming? Last I heard of him he was just too tired of gettin wooped and said he was gonna take up those $1.25 rubber band powered models and just go hang out in his local park and play with his rubber bands ! I heard he also had taken up art, doing those paint by numbers with watercolors and such, but that was just a rumor?

Well , I dont know about the rest of yall playas but Jim Andrews and I went out to practice today. Jim, once I got home I found my problem,...
you see, my motah was only turning 16,600 on a 10x6 prop. i got home and looked down and the set screw that holds the tail wheel was loose and vibrating and just waiting to come off , therefor it was creating a high speed oscillation on the prop above 15k..(.I knew something wasnt right today but just couldnt pinpoint it). I tightened the set screw back up and do tell if I didnt gain my 650 rpms back!!!

BRANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it'll be good to see Jerry Stafford and ol' buddy Gary Fisher from Texas there too.
For those that didnt know, Jerry is a Alabama alumni and a real decent fellow but he attended UA back when they used a sand hourglass to tell time.
Gary, ....well, Gary is Gary and he's from Texas ( Gary is one helllova C40 driver!!!!!!!)

JMc, no note needed. This AU boy is ready to bring it in T-Town. I was just messing around yesterday in practice. You better be ready to be turning about 20,000 rpm's in two weeks. You don't think I would show everything in practice do you? D2, D3, you guys are being awfully quiet. JMc, I think those are the guys who are skeered. I hope everyone brings their A game, because I think 1st place in the A-Main is a given, who is going to finish 2nd on back :-)

Now wait just a dang minute here! Let's not get carried away , everyone knows it's a foregone conclusion that everybody is racing for third place as the Swope boy's will be in the house first and second in the A main are spoken for. The only question remaining is whether or not I can manage 9500 out of my old, tired, worn out TT 40 and can I keep my pile of sticks from flying the covering of!!!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in T-town
Will

By jovie! I think I heard some sass and smack going on! Who would have thunk it! I was snooping around in Alabaster on Saturday and saw a conflagaration of firefighters headed toward Limestone Park, course I had my trailer in tow. When I got there those guys were beatin down flames out on the runway and in the swamp. To my suprise there stood JA and JMc just looking on like they had nothing to do with it.
I peeked around a bit and found a couple C40 planes stuffed in the back of a SUV and they were still smokin! No covering on the wings cept some melted stuff around the leading edge, then I knew who was responsible! 24500 on a 9x6, and 23900 on a 9x10. They still deny it, but I caught them redhanded. The rest of you guys better open up some cans of whoop-um cause those two are up to no good, mark my words! LOL

Looking forward to seeing you all in T Town!

Ed
