Trey, and everybody else,

I double-checked this with Bob this morning.

"previous Nationals"
If I understand your reference to "previous Nationals", this will be different. Our rules include both "AMA Style" and "Warbird Style". The Club 40 racing at the Nats will be done "AMA Style". That means we will have ROG starts. Cuts will be called immediately and the lap will not count.
However, unlike the AMA racing, we will be using a mechanical Stooge to release the planes by twos, 1/2 second apart. Also, there will be A, B and C Mains/Features with 10 pilots. The winner of the C Feature will advance to the B. The winner of the B feature will advance to the A. There will be trophies for the racers in the Features, as well as for "Fast Time"

"Flagmen"
There will be one Cut Judge at each pylon. They will call the cuts using wireless microphones. The backup system is the use of Walkie-Talkies.

Ken is on top of it! It will be run somewhat like Waco but off of grass and your caller will not have to hold your plane! It is really a nice set up!

Guys more NAT's info. 2.4 Ghz radios will be required and failsafe must be enabled. If you don't know how to set the failsafe feature on your radio, look in the manual. The radio failsafe will be checked during the safety inspection.

Trey,

On thing that has changed since you raced is that bubbless (bubbleless) tanks are no longer allowed in Club 40.

If you need any planes I have some and there is a possibility that there is going to be special pricing on Club 40 planes from me shortly.

Don,

I am going to get the ones I have off the shelf tonight and see if they are still airworthy. The last race I was at was the inaugural Club 40 Nationals in Waco several years back. If I need a new one, I'll give you a call.

More info for the NAT”s. We will be giving out 10 Trophies at the NAT’s. Trophies will be given to those racing in the A, B and C Main heats. Here is how the format works. The top 10 pilots that finish 5 rounds will be ranked by points from 1 to 10 to race in the A, B and C Main races. Pilots that finish 1, 2 and 3 will be in the A-Main heat; pilots that finish 4, 5 and 6 will be in the B-Main heat, and pilots that finish 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be in the C-Main heat. After 5 rounds of racing the C-Main will be flown and the winner of that heat will move up to the B-Main, the winner of the B-Main will move up to the A-Main, and the winner of the A-Main will receive the first place trophy. Pilots that finish 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] and 4[SUP]th[/SUP] in the C and B Main races will also receive trophies indicating their place within their Main heat.

This is a bunch of fun, and it has happened that the winner of the C-Main has moved up and won the A-Main.

Does anybody know when the Club 40 pilots need to show up at the NATS on Friday, July 10th?
I'm planning on going up there on Thursday, July 9th for the day with Gary Waters to possibly help with setup
and maybe get some practice laps in. I'll be back on Friday (time?) with my wife Lisa, who has been volunteering
to run the "Judgeman" program and the race matrix here in Indiana last year and this year. It's kind of funny when
her friends ask her what she did this past weekend. She replies, "I ran a computer for R/C airplane racing on Saturday"!
The "double takes" are priceless!

Sorry about not giving the time that things start on Friday, I thought I did. Aircraft safety and tech inspection will start at 9 am Friday. Review my post NAT”s Club 40 Technical... 06-16-2015, and double check your planes before you get there.

Having raced at Waco the AMA race will be a bit further (safer) out. I don't know how much. Also your pylons are too tall at Waco and after shortening #2 pylon they repaired it and put the stupid flag back on top of it.

Hey, come on now. Our flags are very sensitive in the "feelings" department. Even though they are twins, one is always smarter than the other. Just don't tell momma.

skooter you need to take that 11 X 5 off and drop down to a 11 X 4, I'm getting 18.6 with it and man does it unload in the air!

Thanks Gary, I'll have to give that a shot and see how it works for me. If not I'll have to go back to my trusty "11x5"

If it can't pull a 11x6 at 18.500 rpms, you need to put it back in the box and sell it at the next swap meet.

Since it's showing that it's supposed to be raining all week are there chances of the events being cancelled or will we race in the rain?

Are you kidding me? There is a 10% chance of rain on Friday. That means there is 90% chance of no rain. I think that 90% is my choice. Here we come, ready or not. See you all Thursday.
