Default Throw down in t-town 2015

Racers Unite! We have received our AMA sanction for the race and the date will be August 8th. As usual we will be open for practice on Friday prior to the race and we will provide a complimentary meal Friday night for all pilots pre-registered. Due to the difficulties with the Ef-1 planes take-off and landing in the grass last year I suggest we not fly that class this year, however, if we have enough participants for a class we will run them. Alabama rules apply. This year we are proud to bring aboard Frank Baity as our CD and he or I one should be able to answer any questions you may have. Thanks for all of you guys participation and support in the past and we look forward to seeing you in August.

I for one really like running in a main race! The points determine the mains and the mains determine the winners! I like it!

Due to the difficulty we have experienced in the past with takeoff and landing of the Ef-1 planes we will not be running Ef-1 this year. We have decided to replace this class with a foam warbird class. The following rules and planes will apply

Following Parkzone Warbirds are eligible:
1. T-28 Trojan: Must use stock 480 motor and stock 9.5X7.5 prop.
2. F4U Corsair: Must use stock 480 motor and stock 9.5X7.5 prop.
3. P-51 Mustang: Must use stock 480 motor and stock 9X6 prop.
4. F4F Wildcat: Must use stock 480 motor and either the stock 9X6 or the 9,5X7.5 T-28/F4U prop.
5. Bf-109G Messerschmitt: Must use the stock 0.15 motor and 3 bladed 10.6X7.8 scale prop. Landing gear must be installed.
6. Spitfire Mk IX: Must use stock ).15 motor and stock 9.5X7.5 prop. Landing gear must be installed.
If retracts are installed, they must remain extended during race.
7. P-47 Thunderbolt: Must use stock 0.15 motor and stock 9.5X7.5 prop. Landing gear must be installed.
If retracts are installed, they must remain extended during race.
Any 3 cell Lipo Battery with a capacity between 1300-2700mah.

Parkzone Rules
Aircraft must be a ParkZone brand Warbird with stock motor. No airframe modifications that affect performance will be allowed. (Clipped wings/tails, smaller canopies, etc.) Any 3 cell lipo battery may be used with a capacity between 1300-2700mah. Electronic sped controls (ESC) must be the same general capacity as supplied with the airplane, or recommended by ParkZone. This is intended to be a fun racing class, not a cut-throat competition. Entrants that stretch the rules will be severely handicapped or possibly disqualified at the discretion of the Contest Director!
The airplanes that are eligible are listed below with the restrictions/provisions for each airplane.
T-28 Trojan: Must use stock 480 motor and stock 9.5x7.5 prop. Landing gear may be installed or removed.
F4U Corsair: Must use stock 480 motor and stock 9.5x7.5 prop. Landing gear may be installed or removed.
P-51 Mustang: Must use stock 480 motor and stock 9x6 prop.
F4F Wildcat: Must use stock 480 motor and either the stock 9x6 prop or the 9.5x7.5 T28/F4U prop.
Bf-109G Messerschmitt: Must use stock .15 motor and stock 3 bladed 10.6x7.8 scale prop. Landing gear must be installed.
Spitfire Mk IX: Must use stock .15 motor and stock 9.5x7.5 prop. Landing gear must be installed. If retracts are installed, they must remain extended in the down position during the race.
P-47D Thunderbolt: Must use stock .15 motor and stock 9.5x7.5 prop. Landing gear must be installed. If retracts are installed, they must remain extended in the down position during the race

Additionally, the following Tower Hobbies foam warbirds will be legal

P-51 stock# LXAELS
Corsair stock# LXBCKB
Hellcat stock# LXBBSV
These planes can be raced with the landing gear removed.

The Parkzone planes have become scarce if you don't already own one but the Tower Hobbies planes are all in stock and very reasonably priced. These class is designed to generate more interest in pylon racing and hopefully introduce some new pilots that will eventually progress into Club 40. It will be run purely as a fun class.

Any of the planes with .15 size motors will require landing gear be attached and must remain extended. If the aircraft comes with gear doors they must be installed.

As of now we have run the pz corsair,pz t-28, and the tower hobbies p-51 against each other and it promises to be a competitive class

Any questions or suggestions please let us know.

Thanks,Will

Is the FW-190 a legal plane for the Parkzone races?

Hey Eric,

Yes the FW-190 is legal. It would need to be flown with landing gear and gear doors attached and extended. Thanks for pointing that out, hope to see you in August.

WAAM has decided to cancel the Tuscaloosa pylon race scheduled for August 8th. I apologize for any inconvenience this may
have caused anyone.

Thanks for your interest,
Will

We decided the lack of interest made the event unfeasible and most likely a big money loser.
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
