Steve,
We have rooms already as Gary Fisher gave us a heads up on the race a few months ago. We have one guy driving down with the equipment and Matt is flying into DFW and i will fly my Cardinal into a field nearby.
fingers crossed about the WX!

If we can't fly on saturday, can we just do 5 or 6 rounds on sunday?
I haven't been in the air since last week and I'm startin to feel a bit edgy...

My GMS likes high humidity. This old GMS of mine has no compression, needs bearings and is all gummed-up but it likes to run fast.

I know the rain percentage is high for Saturday but Muncie was wet Tuscaloosa last year was wet and we raced before and after the storms come through! It is Texas and the good Lord knows we don’t get much here but when we do it comes hard and moves on out! Lets race!

The Hoosiers are all back home. We to are sorry this didn't work out as we were all practiced up and ready to see if we could do some damage by taking home some awards.
Dr. Matt had non refundable tickets so he came on down, Tom came down by truck with all our race planes and gear and was 30 miles from Waco when he go the word. I flew my Cardinal in 7.5 hours enroute. On the way home Monday I encountered IMC conditions and made it as far as West Plains MO before calling it quits. Low ceilings on Tuesday didn't seem like much fun so I rented a care and drove home while my little plane is still in MO. We plan to will launch a rescue mission at the end of the week. I'm pretty sure you will have better weather this weekend.

Well the rescue mission came off without a hitch on Thursday. Local bronze racer Tim Porter (T3) flew us down in his 172 with head winds it was well over 4 hours enroute with two Fat Boys. It wasn't the best way to see America. But we made it just fine, I never want to hear anybody complain about fuel prices for your car.
it was $4.84 a gallon.....
The return flight for me was a quick 2.22 hours the 20-30 knot tailwind was our friend heading home. Thursday was a fun day of flying.
Maybe next year

The times were fast Saturday after the rain stopped and Sunday weather forecast morphed into a rainout so everyone agreed to have the raffle and head for home. Even though the turnout was down (rain postponement from last weekend.) the racing was tight and very competitive. The engines liked the cool weather Thanks to all the workers who helped make this race a success! Also thanks to the sponsors Randy Ritch who provided the fuel and Cabela's who provided a few raffle items to go along with the Skyraider II which was won by Jerry Hellums. Final standings posted plus a few pics.
