Alabama / Tennessee Club 40 Race Schedule
Here are the Club 40 races that I know are planned. If you know of a race I have missed please add it in.
July 24 Alabaster, Al
August 14 NARCA @ Harvest, Al
September 25 MTRC @ Cane Ridge Park near Nashville, TN
October 16 MTRC @ Cane Ridge Park
I have also heard that RCRC in Huntsville may have another race this fall.
Alabaster may have another race this fall.
Next year's schedule will be fun. It looks like we will be adding in more clubs from the Birmingham area, Tuscaloosa and?

Look's like I'm going to need a few more Planes......
Frank Comer from the B'ham RC club told me that they have measured out a race course at there field, and would like to have an event sometime soon.

You guys have got it going!!! Keep up the good work.
However, be careful not to have to many races, to close together, both time and distance. Burnout is a bad thing
Yes, I know that sounds just the opposite of what Iam supposed to sound like, but burnout is a very bad thing.
My greatest hopes are with you. I do hope to get back into your area, just keep the rain away this time.

Hi Ken,
Dave and I are just fanning the fire.
We both miss the early days of Q-500 when things were simple and FUN. Club 40 has gotten us and a lot of "newbies" excited about racing again. It is cheap and safe (except for the airplanes!). I can already see some interclub competition forming.
My biggest fear is that the rules get out of hand (cheating starts to be a problem).
I want to thank you and Barry for the grassroots work you have done! We intend on following closely to what RCPRO is doing to keep things under control.
Go fast, turn left, pick up the pieces.........
This is just too much fun!
Long live Club 40!

Tbatt, our plan is to host a race this year at Birmingham R/C Association. We are located 12 miles north of Birmingham just off I - 65
at the Morris exit. We have a timer system and are going to build our on pylons. A lot of interest has been generated because of the Alabaster contest! We need to talk Friday or Saturday.

The situation at our field requires us to dig holes in the ground for pylons. This sounds easy but ROCKS is the operative word...Big ones. These holes may happen sooner rather than later. Plus, I will have to work around two events that we are haveing. I will keep everyone posted. I'm hurrying, I wanna race, too!

Frank, the portable pylons we use cost about $120 and takes a few hours to construct. No holes needed. They will fit in the back of a pickup truck so don't let the lack of pylons slow you down. We will bring 'em!
Just a suggestion/offer.
I'm glad you made our race! Good to see you again.
RCRC has decided not to hold another race this year due to schedule issues. They do want to have two races next year though!
Nashville has two races left and if you guys can put one on that would be great!
We need to support the Nashville races!!!!

Quick easy Pylon in the "KISS" fasion.
Drive two "T" posts in the ground and set a 20' section of PVC pipe on them. Tie some streamers on them and they are done.

OK Racers. The pylons are going into pipes set in the ground tomorrow! We have an auger to go on a tractor. If we do not encounter much rock we will be practicing tomorrow afternoon. The lay of our land requires taller pylons. That is why the delay. The tripod pylons may not be practical at our field because of elevation change on the far side of our runway. Also the wind could be a factor as we are on top of a hill. It will be nice when we are done. I am looking at the calendar now!

Im bringing the cement!! Why is it.. ( as a good friend told me a few weeks ago as he had to lay out 30 something fence posts and then fill their hole with cement)... that the 80 lb bags of cement now ways 140 lbs????? Is this some kind of gov't conspiracy or something? They just seem ALOT heavier than they used to, like when I was 20 years younger. LOL
Yes Tim and Frank, I am looking forward to racing around the poles at our house now. Tomorrow should be a good day to get the work done. I'll try and remember to bring my camera for some shots of the work.
Nite,..

RE: Alabama / Tennessee Club 40 Race Schedule
Ok boys and girls, here are a few " shots in action " from today's activities. We had to get a tractor and auger to drill into the ground where the hole for the pylon bases were cemented into. We are located upon a reclaimed strip pit and it seemed everywhere we drilled we ran into boulders the size of a 64 Cadillac! And why is it that several people there instructed ME to get up on top of the auger and stand on it while they steadied me by holding me up there while it was drilling to " " ADD MORE WEIGHT " so it would drill quicker???? Whats up with that ? [sm=punching.gif] And I DID by the way ! But we got er done. All pylon bases are now installed and we should be good to hold a race.
We even had a fellow club member and his wife come out and volunteer to re-paint the Birmingham RC logo thats located in the middle of the runway. This is what a good club is all about folks! People helping out when things needs to be done.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT TODAY AND PITCHED IN!!!!!!! Here are a few shots from today.... lets RACE!!![sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Don't do that to me! Say there is a race and not give me a date! I almost wet myself with excitement. Now I have to hold it in in anticipation. You're killing me!
I wanna race, dang it!
I think that Ernie and I have been to your field back in the old days of SEMPRA and Q500 racing. I'm pretty sure that is where we raced back then or is this a "new" place?
