Club 40 Race in Alabaster, AL October 26th?

Is there indeed going to be a race in Alabaster on the 26th?

I saw it mentioned on the "Any More Club 40 in AL or TN this Year?" thread but haven't seen a thread dedicated to this race.

dphill2 09-23-2013 06:37 AM

Will,
I did not have a thread dedicated to the Alabaster contest !! I used the "any more club-40 in Ala." thread to posted the date, and that we will do the Chili cook off for lunch !! I'm only going to fly Club-40 because of it being a one day event.

Dave ..

bigblueswope 09-23-2013 08:22 AM

I'm actually his brother, BJ, from over in GA.

Thanks for the update, I just wanted to make sure the date was indeed what was listed in the thread you mentioned.

dphill2 09-23-2013 08:40 AM

My Bad !! I thought it had to be Will ! Anyway the date is the 26th and I hope you can make it. We have a great field for Club-40 and our members come out to help. Looking for a good turn out and some great Chili !! (We will have some Rolaids on site) Ha..

I'll be there, Will

JohnMcGowan 10-02-2013 07:37 AM

What is up with all the quiet on here?
I guess everyone is out tuning up their racers to get 'max warp speed' out of them maybe? :p

Tbatt 10-02-2013 09:25 AM

I've been busy getting ready for our Aerotow event. The big Decathlon had a problem and required some minor yet very important surgery. As soon as this event is over I will be back in race mode.

Can I ask what most of you guys run for servos in your skyraiders?

dphill2 10-04-2013 07:23 AM

Twostroke I cant speak for all but I use DS821 Digital
DPII

bigblueswope 10-04-2013 02:57 PM

I am trying out EXI D122F digital servos and they appear to be working well despite the low price tag.

Where is the field? I'm trying to plan my travel for the race.

Tbatt 10-07-2013 11:51 AM

I use Hextronic analog servos. $5.95 from Hobby King. They work. Just about any servo that has 40oz/in of torque will work. Use a standard four screw servo to be legal.

BigBlue, The flying field is located in Limestone Park on Highway 31 near Saginaw. Take I 65 south from Birmingham to Exit 238
Alabaster/Saginaw Ex. Stay on Highway31 for about 2 1/2 miles and the flying field in on the right side of the road. Look for sign at the
gate into the field !!

I know we arent going to have ef1 races at alabaster, but just in case, or for future use i programmed an additional 10 second timer. Now you can push one button for 30 seconds or the other button for 10 seconds.

Tbatt 10-22-2013 08:55 AM

I plan on bringing my EF-1 for show and tell. Maybe a demo flight if anyone is interested.

We need to do something to keep the racing alive. Adding in more classes might work. Right now attendance is so low that the local races are just about not worth the effort. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING! A Cracker Barrel meeting should be planned at the race. Second week in November or January?

Anyway, I'm ready for the Alabaster race. It will be great to see the Gang again!

bigblueswope 10-22-2013 09:03 AM

Agreed Tim. Even though this is my first race I want to help this grow. Just the practice I've been doing at my home field in Jersey, GA, even without poles or anybody to run against, is generating interest in my club. Hopefully this can spark some interest around Atlanta.

These are even cheaper and work great. $4.59 each. I tried some digitals and Club 40 racing just isn't worth putting that kind of money in a plane that is destined for a big old midair.......five years of racing and five planes. I know, I know, five planes is just a good start for DP2 and MOO-MAN. RIGHT? What is your count guys? It's ok, you are allowed to take your shoes off to count as long as we aren't around to smell them.

dphill2 10-22-2013 10:56 AM

Bat Man, you don't have to worry about the mule going blind !! Just load the wagon !! We gona race !
We have about 14 right now !!! Plaques are ready the fuel has been bought and the chili is on the way !!
See ya Saturday....

DP ll

Tbatt 10-22-2013 11:28 AM

14! That's great. Sounds like a real race! I hope we don't run out of daylight.

Hey, while I have your attention, please don't schedule a race for April 5th next year. I have my AVA job scheduled in B'ham that day. I have been missing your spring race because of this conflict.

dphill2 10-22-2013 12:15 PM

You got it !! I just made a note to myself so that won't happen again !! We also need to get together to talk about next year and race dates !!

WSwope 10-23-2013 03:27 AM

Thanks,Will
