Hello, all guys, has anyone of u have experience with this Air Hogs Switchblade RC Plane/Copter ?i just got it for my son,i hope i can give him a big surprise,but he said it is not cool,dislike it .
what do you think about it ? Is it not cool? Really?

I would tell my son to make up his mind after he flies it. If he still doesn't like it, cool with me. Gives me another indoor toy to play with.

If you and he both don't like it after trying it, send it to me please. I'll make good use of it...LOL

I took my new 13 year old step-son to the RC airplane field years ago. He said the planes made an annoying sound and that he wanted to go home because he was getting a headache. Later at home he spent four hours one foot away from the TV playing a shoot um up video game with the sound turned all the way up.

Yup....they'd rather play vid games. Get rid of them!!! (the vid games....if you can)

If you have to have them....make a deal, 1 hr vid games =1 hr outside games. No arguments, no discussions, full stop!

And playing vid games only happens on weekends and after school work/chores are done.

You want your kid to be able to function in the world they are growing up in? Let them play video games. Of course everything in moderation and they do need to get out of the house but video games aren't the villain here.

Look around the flying field and you won't see a lot of "cool". You'll see some nerds and older guys (who can afford this hobby) but no good looking women so you do the math.

You want your kid to think it's cool to fly models? Than buy him a turbine and watch how cool he thinks it is. A $14 toy isn't very cool and probably won't fly worth a crap either.

My son took his birthday money and bought one of these on his own - he thought it was cool, and so did I.
Only thing, they don't fly very well. When you rotate the halves, it will climb vertically without hesitation (likes trees but not wind) from the little tee that comes with it. When you hit the transform button on the radio, it doesn't fly very well.
As suggestion for the future, provided you want to get your kids involved with your hobby - buy a Blade MSR and Dx6i radio - now you've got something to talk about - and it'll be cool for a long time to come.

I saw that thing, yeah it does look pretty clunky. Seems like it will do both flight profiles, but neither well. Air Hogs better come up with some better, multiple channel proportional stuff with gyros, or they risk being a "has been." The price gap between quality E flite stuff and the Air Hogs is gradually starting to close with the newer micro models. Heck, they have some pretty good Chinese coaxial helis at the mall for $40. Basinbum, lol, you're right about the flying fields! Seriously, what does the average teenager have in common with most people there? My AMA magazine came in a few months ago, my wife was telling me about it over the phone and says, "Your toy plane magazine came in today, I actually looked through it once because I was bored." I said, "Oh yeah? Anything interesting?" She says, "No, just a bunch of geeks!" Pretty much sums it up.

Oh there will always be a market for cheap stuff in mass market retailers, so Air Hogs doesn't have anything to worry about.

And I have to agree with the son. Aeromodeling isn't cool. Cool is making lots of money and being popular and going to parties and having the best cars and houses. That's not us at all. I like being nerdy and I found a woman that likes me this way too. But if the boy wants to be cool he needs a guitar or a hot rod, not an RC toy.
