We did not officially cover the iHobby show this year, but as luck would have it, I was driving through Chicago last Friday, so I stopped in at the show to get a few pictures for you guys.
First stop was Hobbico, where they had their new EP 50" Yak 55M and a 60-size Escapade on display. These planes are so new there isn't even any info available yet, but they look pretty sweet!
The Cirrus EP was also there. I had the chance to fly one of these last summer at Watts Over Owatonna and it is a fantastic flier!
There was also a new all-foam Cessna Corvalis which comes with the new Tactic 6-channel radio - I've already claimed "dibs" on reviewing this one!
Also there was the new Top Flite 60-size P-40 and a gorgeous new 55cc Yak-55M. The Yak is designed for all-out 3D performance with light-weight, built-up balsa and ply construction and a two-piece wing. It also features a built-in channel so you can use either a Pitts Muffler or canisters (Hardware for both provided).
And of course there were the micros! I loved the new Albatross!
Something else that caught my eye was totally non-airplane related, but they had a really cool little slot car setup where, instead of having a power supply and resistor-type controllers, the controllers were little hand generators, so the faster you cranked, the faster they go! Cool!!!

Next stop was the Horizon booth where they had quite an array of new products.
E-Flite had there micros on display along with a beautiful new Champ. David Payne posed with the new Rhapsody Bipe, and Quique gave me the scoop on his new Carbon-Z Yak. This plane is built with a new 4-layer technology that is amazingly strong yet light!
There was also a new P-47 with electric retracts that looked really sweet, along with more electrics than you can shake a stick at.

And of course, my favorite guys from DuBro were there! I can't thank these guys enough for all of the great products they provide for us modelers.
Other booths I noticed were The World Models / The Wings Makers, Maxford USA who displayed the re-vamped Neptune Seaplane, EMS, Hi-Max Motors who had a new line of electric props, Midwest and a host of others.

While I was walking around I ran into my friend Steve Thomas from Bob's Hobby. Steve just picked up a new line of engines which he will be the distributor of. Authentic Scale Engines are designed and built in Rockville, MD. Their workmanship is outstanding (No castings here, these are all machined from bar stock!) and you've got to check out their prices!

Wish I would have had more time, but we had to hit the road for even more adventures!

Mike, I went to iHobby way back when it was still the RCHTA show. People who have never been there don't realize how huge that place is until you've been there! The showroom is the size of 9 (!) football fields and that's just one room in the building. We spent around 4-1/2 hours in there and that was skipping most of the non-RC stuff as they also have just about everything else that you can get from a big hobby shop.
See ya at Toledo if you happen to be driving through there!
