Where the ladies at?
Just though it would be cool to hear from the ladies...Those who fly some sort of RC model, or maybe teach some rc or help out at events. Might be nice to hear from the other side for a change.

RE: Where the ladies at?
Yeah RC flying typically is pretty male dominated. The one time I got my wife on a buddy box to fly with me my plane broke up i mid air due to a crack in the wing that I missed. It was afreak accident but my wife swears it was something she did and wont ever fly my planes anymore.

RE: Where the ladies at?
At least at my club, there are a couple of ladies (girlfriends of the guys) that do fly. They mostly like some sort of foamy. I myself have let them fly one of mine a time or two. Also have been to a few area events where the ladies are a big part of keeping the events going, ie: scoresheets,announceing,registration,safety... So at least its nice to see that for a change.
A while back I could swear there were a couple of ladies who use to post here on RCU. Wonder where they are?

RE: Where the ladies at?
Skyhigh Bev mostly posts in this thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=10405716
A few other ladies have posted on occasion but have not stuck around. They may or may not still be flying but they are no longer posting.
At our club, some members wives come out to watch and they help in many ways if we have an event, but, they have zero interest in looking at RCU.

Come on Tru Blu, you know you rigged that plane to do that so that you could keep the field as your sanctuary. Your not fooling anyone here.

RE: Where the ladies at?
Im sure theres gotta be some women pilots out there that are competative enough and would love to show us guys a thing or two about flying. To me that would be so cool. Esp to see the look on some of the blowhards at our field.

Nobody here has tips for you (for encouraging the fairer sex to fly RC) - if you succeed, share the method with us.
good luck,

Most of the ladies let their hubbies do the posting. Down in the boat forums where I spend most of my time at, there are 3 that are fairly active, 2 of whom I know personally.
My wife has raced RC trucks and boats but otherwise doesn't have much interest. I don't want her in here anyway to see what I post about her! [X(]

RE: Where the ladies at?
The only time that I have seen a lady at the club has been during the club picnic of special events. And they never fly. It's too bad as they certainly are welcome.

I actually do know of husband and wife that fly. They go to contest and compete. Each have there own plane and equipment are are both pretty good, even if they do compete against each other at times.

I'm still here. I don't post much anymore but I still fly when the weather is nice. I still like a good Open B combat match or a trip around the pylons when I can find some action. Right now I'm getting into warbirds. I'm finishing a Hawker Hurricane for this summer. Please don't ask me how to get more women involved. I'm as lost as you all are. None of my girlfriends have any interest at all and they think I'm strange (I am).

Hey vicman, Nice to see you are still here also. I wish I was closer but you are well over a thousand miles away. I have an unraced 428 plane burning a hole in my hanger. I guess I'm stuck sport flying for the time being.[]
