Default What is the best wayto ship a 50CC plane?

I need to ship a 50cc plane from NC to FL. Any ideas on packaging and who to use to ship it. Plane is 79" long, about 12"s high and 13"s wide. Plus wings etc. How much do you think it will cost?
Thanks,
Guy

I just shipped a 25% cub from Pa to Fl via Greyhound. I made a box 83" long(the Greyhound limit) and created a crate inside using 1x2's and fiberboard. Cost for materials: wood, screws, bubble wrap, tape, cardboard, fuel, etc... was about $40.00. Cost to ship Greyhound was $60.00 plus a tip to the porter. It arrived safe and sound. I also added in some $$ for my time as it's not a 1 hour job.
In contrast just the shipping costs via ups or fedex were close to $200.00.
Yes there have been horror stories with Greyhound but you need to do some homework and find out what type of station/terminal it will be delivered to. If it's Billy-Bob's service station then look for another in the next town/city that is a terminal as it probably stands a better chance there
If money is not a concern then go fedex or ups.

I've used Greyhound to shipped three and receive one plane over the years,, all came in perfect condition.

If you read that thread thoroughly,, you'll see a lot of the problem besides Greyhound initially loosing the plane was the guy under insured the plane (Greyhounds limits) and didn't understand paypal's policy on the seller's responsibility of proof of delivery. A lot to learn from that thread

Hey guys thanks for the information. I think I'm going to give them a shot. Any one of you have pics of how you boxed you planes up?
Thanks!
