Default King of the Mountain - Ironman All-Around

I would like to see a flying contest where multiple types of flying would be involved... Pattern, Heli 3D, Sailplane...

Kind of like a pentathlon... where each skill would be judged individually.

Lets see who the best is.... There may already be such a contest... if so where?

That's not a bad idea,,

The Nats could have an "all around" Medal for pilots that compete in multiple events

Doing it all on one weekend at one event would be a challenge

It would really allow the best all around flying talent to emerge... It would be tough to compete though having all the best equipment in every aspect of flight... so maybe an average Joe with adequate equipment could win. The best pilot could not spend as much time on any individual aspect of flight.

I like the idea, but few average RCers have the skills/equipment to prepare or compete.

Very doubtful. More likely the hot-thumb, hair-on-fire, factory-sponsored guy would need to find room on his already-overstuffed trophy shelf for yet another award. [:-]

We have great fun with the old-school fun-fly format, and add a couple weird events to throw the hair-on-fire guys off their game and give Joe Normal a chance.
