Default Minnflyer (AKA Mike Buzzeo) has unexpectedly passed away

It is with a heavy heart that I must pass some sad news on to all of the members of RCU.

Mike Buzzeo, AKA Minnflyer, passed away at his home Monday night, April 9th, 2012. While the details surrounding his unexpected death are still to be determined, his wife granted me permission to post this thread to inform all of his loyal followers of this grievous misfortune.

Minnflyer and I have been writing partners for RCU and the best of friends since January of 2009. I know that I will surely miss him, and there is a hole of un-imaginable size left in my life.

March of this year marked Mike’s 10th year with RCU, as a reviewer, moderator, and general member. I know that his advice, jokes, and sometimes off-key remarks will be missed greatly. Not only have we all lost a dear friend, but we have lost a man who was willing to share his knowledge of RC with anyone and everyone who asked.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Mike for all he did for me – he was my BEST friend, my teacher, my mentor, and a second father to me.

We’ll all miss you, Ol’ Buddy. May the winds be calm and the skies be clear wherever you are!

Though you may have read some (or all) of Minnflyer's articles and reviews, I have included a list to them in case you'd like a second look.

Default RE: Minnflyer (AKA Mike Buzzeo) has unexpectedly passed away

Geoff called me this morning with this news and I still can't come to the realization that my dear friend is gone. Mike and I have been here with RCU almost from the start, and we became friends almost instantly when we met. While Mike and I had a few things that we disagreed with each other on, we both worked well together and I know I could always count on him to be there for me. The hobby has suffered a great loss with Mike's passing and I have lost a dear friend. Mike always had a great way of getting information across to people that I always admired.

I hope that wherever Mike is now he has windless days at the field and that his batteries are always charged''

Rest in peace my dear friend. I will miss you always!!!!

Mike will be missed by all of us. While I never personally met him, I grew to respect his opinions on many aspects of our hobby.

You could always rely on Mike's answers to our questions. He had the experience to back up what he said. His willingness to provide information was unmatched, and he provide it in a well written, no BS manner.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I used to talk to him "off to the side" here on RCU, to me, he was a cornerstone for this place. I will miss his contributions, as will the staff of RCU. My condolences to his family, also.

What a terrible shock to hear of Mike's passing. He was always energetic and full of spirit with his batteries always fully charged. He's a long pole in this RCU tent that will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends, of whom he has a lot. Mike- Rest in Peace.

I have known Mike for many years and we always enjoyed rattling each others cages at flying events, talking about cameras, writing styles and other R/C related topics.

All I can say is that we will all miss him.

Mike, please save a place at the table for me....

I was shocked to here this news. I really will miss him. I last saw him at our annual auction and I wish I had spent more time talking to him, as he always had something interesting to tell me. His talents were far more varied than a lot of us thought. He was a genuine nice guy who was always willing to help people out. We need more like him.

RIP Mike. I never knew you but have read your articles and you gave a lot to the community. Prayers to his family as well.
Re-reading Mikes Father's Day article I assume Mike's Father is still living and if so I can only imagine how hard this will be for him to bear loosing another son.

Much, much too young to have passed.

My condolences to his family.

I was shocked when I heard the news of Mike's passing. He always had a good answer and was able to explain things with both words and pictures in a way that was easy to understand. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Mike, may you now fly with good weather all the time.

Sad news indeed. My condolences to his family and friends. And I do not know if he had a big family, but I am sure he had many friends.

Mike was a friend and a mentor to me. I will miss him dearly. May he fly in clear blue skies and rest in peace...

How sad to hear this. May God give him and his family peace and security during this time of his passing.
