Default Shipping rates Ouch!

I shipped a ARF 5 months ago 400 miles for 36.49 I just ran the same size ARF box through UPS today for 225 miles and the cost was 74.66, I could not believe it, who can afford to ship now days? Most times the buyers are not willing to pay that much shipping and I am not going too, so it looks like shipping is out of the question for me, it looks like its back to the old days of going to the swap and sell days to sell unwanted RC stuff. UPS is my only option because I live out in the middle of nowhere and if I would go greyhound or Fedex I would have drive over 50 miles one way to the closest drop for large boxes.

Do you have a UPS business account or do you go to a UPS store? There is a major difference in cost.

I do have account with UPS but I don't think it is a business account, I just a RC modeler that sells things I don't want, so I don't do that much shipping.

Check USPS rates for parcel post. Much lower than UPS

not much, I checked USPS and it was 62.00 still to high, now if the buyer would want to pay it I would not care but they want me too sell the plane shipped for asking price which means I pay shipping! ain't gonna happen,

Most times I've gone halfs on shipping and that normally works 99% of the time. If that doesn t work then that person probably doesn t want that item bad enough.

Sometimes, if the box just too damn big, most of the cost is "oversize" charge. I have split large packages (unbuilt arfs), into two boxes, and sent both for much less than one big box. Just keep both boxes with limits. The rate goes way up when the length, + girth go over 80". Really gets high when you reach 108" Check the shippers site for size restrictions.

Not the size of the box or how far it is to go, It is the tax on gas when you have to pay what the shiper has to pay most are loosing money paying the wage most drivers want
