Initially, I thought Mr OP was a newbie, but I just noticed, he has more than 3000 posts on this forum! Can't be a newbie, and 1000% can't be a shill, by someone's definition. Oh, he didn't know HK's "reputation" and that was why he aired his grievance on this forum. Haha... what a joke!

Has anyone else noticed that Mr OP seems to have stopped looking at this thread or responding?

I think I've had enough fun, reading all the hilarious replies, both pro and con, in this hornet's nest that Mr OP stirred up. I guess all of us need a good laugh every once in a while!

I'll still continue to read this thread, just to get my daily dose of chuckles, but I won't bother to waste any more of my time replying to anyone's punches.

Cheers!

What gets me is the shillls that come here and swear what great service that got. One person on this thread , at last check, had only 6 posts and everyone of them were pro HK.

HK advertises and pays users to answer questions to desenters and promote their (HK) lousy service, rip offs, and down right scams. I don't buy anything from HK as reported by another user that claims he has nothing to do with HK, yet he knew I had never ordered from them.

go figure!

A shill is a person who poses as a customer in order to decoy others into participating, as at a gambling house, auction, confidence game, etc.
or a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty.

A shill, is a person who publicly helps a person or organization without disclosing that he has a close relationship with that person or organization. Shill typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that he is an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller for whom he is secretly working. The person or group who hires the shill is using crowd psychology, to encourage other onlookers or audience members to purchase the goods or services. Shills are often employed by professional marketing campaigns. Shill more commonly refer to any person who is secretly in league with another person or organization while pretending to be neutral or actually a part of the organization he is planted in, such as a forum.

Shilling is an illegal activity also know as a criminal act.

Frank

Before you get too smug hiding behind the anonymity of the internet, you better be aware that, to in the same breath accuse people of being ''shills'' ( first time I heard of this word) and say that ''shilling'' is an illegal activity, (ie, you are accusing some people here of being criminals), there have been cases where people have been sued successfully for defamatory statements made over the internet.

BE VERY SURE OF YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU SHOOT OFF YOUR MOUTH!!

Just because someone only has a few posts here does not make him a shill who just comes in to defend a company. The same person can be an active contributor on some other forums, which of course, you did not know about, did you? And would he still have been a shill if he had defended a company that you were happy with? Well, of course not!

So who said you were a shill? I didn't see anyone on this thread call you a shill.... So that makes me wonder why you are so upset?

I hope you don't buy anything from Hobby King as I wouldn't want to see you lose your hard earned money.

Honestly that "Does not compute"? If it says "self service", thats what you should expect....not full service. If the meat pictured looks like a t-bone, and they bring a ground meat patty, you have the right to expect a actual cut of beef. If it says you get 4 Oz of fries and you get 1 oz it isnt truthful. Could you judge the "taste" of the food by a picture? No.... If you ordered what looked like a 1/2 pound fresh grilled burger with all the toppings and got a Mcdouble with ketchup only....? To me what you are saying is the exact opposite of what I said. You are saying "I'm gonna go in somewhere and irrelevant of the item description I am going to assume I get something else." I am saying "I expect to get exactly what you said you were providing" If hobby king said "you get what you get take your chances , actual item may be totally different or damaged" That is what I would expect from my X dollar purchase, Why lock a thread in "The Clubhouse" In a forum where it seems like you might get some pertinet info maybe, But if you are here you are honestly just burning time eh? Here's the best advice. Before opening anything from HK just drink a 6 pack. Wait 30 minutes and it will all look good. It's all just perspective. Adjust yours and you will love the HK. It's only a matter of time until HK has some more direct competitors and market forces at work will take care of them.

I think that's already happening and a lot faster than they thought it would.

Yep. It's only a matter of time before US companies start ordering mass quantities of Chinese products and selling them really cheap from over here. Even at a slightly higher cost if you could get it faster then 2 months then why not. Look, HK has done us a service and the better their products get the less the competition will have to sell theirs for. I personally like getting high-quality lipos like the Hyperions for less than 1/2 the price I used to.

Competition is working...

Maybe someone can do something with gas prices in the US? The problem is no one can compete with the large companies. Certainly a start up does not have a chance. I do think HK will wake some of these lamer hobby shops up.

Dear Tony, I read in the WSJ last week that Chinese banks are coming to the USA and we are not doing anything to stop them. Did you know that the Chinese regularly salvage the old parts out of used computers and sell them as new to the aerospace industry. The US military has a big problem with failures with bad transistors and such that are sold as new? Did you know that the Aflaska Air flight that crashed near Santa Barbra had bogus Chinese jack screwd in the elevator trim that were marked as PMA or authorized US parts? Stuff happens her and a lot of it is not good stuff. What is my point? They are communists, God is not even legal in their society. Tibet is not free. I'll stop here. Wallace Tharp RCO USAF Copntract
You're wrong about that Alaska Air flight. That was caused by improper maintenance techniques. Do research before you blame deaths on an entire culture, xenophobe.
His assumption, while not exactly 100% accurate, is not far from the truth on that, and I should know. I lost a family member on that flight.

No doubt that Hyperion are made to a higher standard. The think is that if labor prices in China continue to rise it will be economical to manufacture certain items in the US again driving costs down.

Not only will we be able to get parts within days but if you get a defective one the manufacturer will replace it and you won't have to take pictures or weigh it or wait six moths while they send you robot form mail teling you how sorry they are that they screwed you.

I agree with you that it should be replaced and you should not have to pay to ship it back to china. You are lucky they gave you anything. I have had problems with bad merchandise and they want you ship it back to them in china so they can determine if it is damaged. Most people figure it is not worth the expense and hassle to ship it back unless it is a costly item. It should make no mater if it cost 1.00 or 200.00. They should make it good and quickly. You paid upfront for an undamaged plane and you do not have to accept a discount, give this man a new wing, end of discusion. My last order took 362 days to fill because they could not get 4ea HI-TEC servos. They keep asking me to drop the order for the servos but I refused. it was a over 400.00 on that order and they heldeverything a whole year until the servos came in at which time they sent me the entire order. That was 362 days frompaying for my stuff to haveing it on my doorstep. HK bites a big one

Dave you voluntarily waited 3 days short of a full year for some servos that delayed the $400 order?

Wow! That stuff you are smoking has to be strong!

I'm with "V" top some extent. They should have offered to replace the wing. I know these are superficial damages, but damaged is damaged. I'm an electrician, and if I buy damaged goods, I get them replaced cheap or not. On the other hand, it wouldn't take much to hide the blemishes, and they won't have any noticeable effect on performance. I'd recommend taking the $10 and hiding the damage or asking them if they'd replace the wing.

Labor prices are not the only thing making China cheaper. The massive supply of rare earth minerals helps quite a bit too. So don't think we're that close to being able to manufacture all the stuff we would like in the US again.

Really sorry Taz, I flew on Alaska many times in my 16 years in FAirbanks, rode the jump probably a hundred times as an ATC specialist. I think AK Air pilots were and are among the best in the world. My very good friend retired from them a couple of years back. Marine C-130 pilot, salt of the earth. I admit the Chinese jack screw can not now be proven, but there is no doubt about the used transistors.,etc. by our builders of military equipment. They are salvaged from old computers and sold as new. There is video of them doing that somewhere. Sixty minutes or something like that. Sincerely, Wallace Tharp

UPDATE

after my complaint about the amount of credit I got, I received this reply:

"We apologize for the late reply.

Please be advised that this is our management final decision in regards to this damage case. We are sorry that we can not offer extra store credit in this case.

I have informed the warehouse to add a little random gift into your next coming order 2004494016. I hope you will be happy with this solution.

Thank you very much for your patience.

Thanks for emailing support.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Regards.
Ricky
HobbyKing Support Team"

I'll let you know what I got as the surprise gift. I hope it's NOT Turnigy stickers LOL

Cheers, V.

HK is far from going down the tubes. I just placed another order with them that totals, $386.53
Three weeks ago, I ordered $406.40 worth of stuff that arrived at my door within 10 days of placing my order. All was well.
