Default Looking for place to fly near Washington, MO. (non-ama)

I am looking for a place to fly within 30 minutes of Washington, Missouri. I moved here a little over a year ago. I have searched through the RCU locator and the AMA website club locator and there appears to be no AMA field nearby except for one in Pacific, which has severe restrictions on nitro-powered models. So now I'm trying to find any non-AMA fields nearby or simply places that people go to fly near Washington, MO. There is a hobby shop in Washington but they are trains only and couldn't really help me other than order parts. I have also been to a couple hobby shops around St. Louis but they couldn't help either.

If you know of a field that you would rather not be made public please PMme.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Non AMA fields are very few and the ones that are publized even fewer.

Look to see if there's any privately owned small air strips in the area. I fly off of a Dust croppers blacktop airstrip. the smaller landing strips aren't FAA controlled. I looked into the local R/C club but they're real snobs and I won't join so I was stuck like you.. Also here in Nevada we have quite a few dry lake beds, they are really smooth hard dirt, Great for deadstick's... lol

That's great advice desert ratt. I looked into it and there are 2 private strips near by but neither one is suitable for RC. Thanks for the tip though.

There are two sites just east of you, one in Eureka and the other in Valley Park. Google maps show Eureka to be 25.4 miles from you and Valley Park 33.4 miles from Washington. The one in Eureka is right on the Meramec River just south of I44 and the one in Valley Park is in Buder Park, just north of I44. Easy drive for you.

Sorry we Zero'd out on the private landing strips but it looks like JollyPopper has found something for you.

I am aware of both places. Both are more than 45min drive which is just too far. I am still looking.
