blkhappy,
Here is a site from an outfit in Germany:
http://www.paramax.de/
On that site there are other links to European R/C skydiving sites as well. They make a large very high quality jumper from everything I have been told. The site has an engllish translation on it that is fairly good and will give you the jist of the info you need. It is a pretty healthy investment though and then you have to have a large airplane to drop him from. Back in the 80s Robbe made a skydiver named Charly that is smaller and not nearly as nice. If you look long enough and hard enough you may find someone who has one they are willing to part with. I looked all over the internet for mine and it turned out that a guy in my club had one new in the box that he had been trying to sell for years. After I bought it I was talking to a new friend of mine who is an exhibition skydiver and it turns out that he had one in mint condition brand spanking new in the box.

One bad thing about the folks at paramax is that due to the fact that you get to customize the colors of your chute and jumpsuit and that your jumper is basically made to order, the lead times are pretty long. I ordered mine in february and still havent seen it.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will do my best to answer them.

until then,

The paramax one looks nice. What are movable arms +? When it is all done how much will you have in it? I know it doesnt come with a radio either...

the movable arms from what I understand give you more control of the chute. When its alll shipped here I'll have about 500 in it plus whatever airborne equipment I use. That sounds like a bunch but this is a large fiberglass unit with handmade cute and jumpsuit and even real leather jumpboots and a scale harness. At around 17" tall he is actually even true 1/4 scale!

The people at Paramax have not responded to my email. How long does it usually take them? do they monitor this forum?

Sometimes the folks at Paramax are really great at responding to emails and sometimes they are not. Usually Max or Till will respond within a few days.

That Junior jumper from hobby lobby looks like it would work from smaller airplanes. I dont think he looks as realistic, but when you are dropping him from 500-1000 feet who is gonna know?

I dont like the hobby lobby one near as much. I also found some nice paraplanes but am still leaning towards the skydiver. I started to build one a while back from RCM plans and just havent finsihed it. I may consider finishing that first.

By the way, the skydiver will be dropped from my helicopter which is quite capable of carrying any of these. We do bottle drops with gallon jugs full of water so weight is not an issue. I think dropping from a heli seems a lot better anyway.

hello blkhappy,

just wondering if you had ever gotten a response from the folks at paramax. I had emailed them for an update on my order about 2 weeks ago and then again this past weekend and I finally heard something. I know they are very busy folks and I would imagine that if you havent heard from them that you should hear something very shortly. Hopefully I will have my mike by the end of this month. As soon as I get it I will try to let you know about the quality and any other info you may want to know

this is a link to a website about r/c skydiving. I used to fly with Robert Deadmond and remember him having a Charly back in the early 80s. There is some good info on the site and some additional links. hope it helps

I did get a response from them. They said that the wait time was 6 months for a Mike. I think I will wait for now.

I guess the people from that website above also make a skydiver. I am told that the price is quite a bit less than for Mike but I havent seen any kind of info about the skydivers yet.

blkhappy,

One of our club members has an R/C skydiver. It's the one from hobby lobby. In fact, it is dropped from the wingo. Same one listed in an above link. We tested it last week in prep for an airshow this weekend. I noticed you are in fresno. Our club is in Morgan Hill and the skydiver should be there Sat and Sun at our airshow. http://www.sccmas.org - link is at bottom of page.

Hi Fellows,

My partner and I make R/C Skydivers. We have a web site and if you have any additional questions, please Email me and I will be happy to talk to you anytime. Our web site address is:

rcskydiveusa.bizhosting.com

Our divers weigh 2 lbs. with the radio installed,(we do not sell with radio) the chute is a ram air 7cell made with rip stop nilon, the same as the full scale. The chute is 22"x49".

I'll be happy to answer any question that you might have if you are building your own. We spent 3 years perfecting ours and might be able to save you a lot of time experimenting . Believe me it is frustrating to try something that doesn't work and have to do a complete rebuild before you can try something else.

Contact me any time and if I can answer a question or solve a problem for you, I'll be happy to do so.

Keep the dirt dives to a minimum !!!

Have a "mike" now and it flys great. Much better than the "Charly"

Attached is photo of Mike with the flag deployed (on Command).
