I would like to try one in an old trainer in the hangar. The older planes are on 72mhz though and I'm not changing them.... think it would be a problem?

I don't know why it's incompatible.
I set up a dummy system on the bench. It chattered and hunted, when used with my 35 Meg gear.
I'll try again. Maybe I did something stupid.

OK, I tried the Stabiliser with my 35 Meg Multiplex gear. Incompatible.

.
Next, I tried the Stabiliser with some 35 Meg JR gear. Compatible.
Don't ask me why.

RE: Three Axis Stabilizer
If I were you I would have that Multiplex gear checked. There might be something wrong with the output pulses.
I use Multiplex but I have converted it to 2.4 with XPS.
