Default Hobby Barn - Tucson

When did Hobby Barn change hands? Is it closed for good? Went in there the other day, nothing left. Anybody know the story?

The owner of Hobby Barn has retired, I think he was 84 years old, again I think. Rob is still there and is fabricating the Classic Pattern Kits. The front of the store is basically closed. Rob seems to have been very busy with the kits. And damn fine looking work I might add.

Try looking at Competition Hobbies, in Tuscon. They got me interested in racing there a long time ago; http://competitionhobbies.net/

This is good news. My homies and I were in Tucson for the Shootout last fall and drove over to the Hobby Barn. It was sad to see a once great hobby shop decline like that. I hope they do well under the new ownership. We will try to make a return visit this fall during the shootout.

When a privately owned hobby shop opens it is a time of celebration. Around here it has been closings that are the norm. Congrats and many you make till you are 84 as well!
