1/4 scale floats for H9 1/4 Cub.
Looking for foam cores to build scale floats for Hanger 9 1/4 Cub. A Canadian source existed many years ago, don't know if still available.
Any ideas?

Yes, I am aware of the H9 floats, heve seen them and they are fabulous. However, I am sitting with 60 years of accumulated balsa, plywood and other building materials enough to start a lumber yard. So, Having once purchased some foam cores from a gent in Canada and having built a set which worked well on the Sig 1/4 Cub, thought I would see if any cores existed or if someone could cut a set. They work well when fiberglassed.

LOL roger on the lumber yard!
You're in luck, a guy mentioned this place yesterday to me at the club and I just checked out their web site....might be up your alley.

I saw the 60% Cub in the last two years at the Joe Nall. I am only 1hr. 20 min. from Woodruff so I make it there every year
Thanks much for the site, exactly what I wanted.

BH,
Are your floats by Hanger 9?
What engine are you using?
I have looked at the Super Cub and drooled but not able to afford as yet.
In the J-3 Cub I have, I just converted from a Saito 180 Golden Knight to a DLE 20 gas, but have not flown it as yet. I suspect that the DLE 20 may be a little light for float flying but it will certainly be very scale like for land flying.
I have read a considerable number of threads that mentioned the H9 floats coming apart at joints. Have you had any problems with leaking floats?
I appreciate your assistance with these questions. BTW, nice video of your flights!

Thanks for the kind words.
Yes they are the Hangar-9 Cub Floats. I sealed all of the cross braces and carefully made gaskets for the hatches and have not had any water intrusion yet or problems with the floats.
The plane is powered by a Zenoah G-26 with a Falcon carbon 18x6 wide prop and has enough power for scale like flying. Even without the floats it's not a 3D plane but it flies quite well with either installed.

BH, Thanks much for the info. I think the DLE will work fine. I have flown a 1i/4 sig Cub, on floats with both an OS 120 twin and a 160 twin, and while the 160 was easier to get off the water, I had many flights with the 120 that were perfectly acceptable.
I am convinced now, get the H9 floats and carefully waterproof them.
Thanks for your help!
