Replacement RC controller for Toys R Us truck?
Hi there -- Recently I got a great deal at a home salvage place, $1.49 for the truck below. Perfect shape -- but no remote, so really not as exciting for my kid as I'd hoped. I stopped by the local Toys R Us but they had no idea how to help. Any idea if there are other units compatible with this one, or where I might be able to get a remote for this truck?
Thanks in advance! I'm new to these things but the boy loves them so I'm doing what I can! (And yes, I should probably just shell out for a new truck but he digs this one, so I thought I'd give it a shot)

It's a toy and not hobby grade. It could be on any frequency and protocol. Finding a transmitter that will work will be very difficult if not impossible. I would dare to say that the receiver and servos are made into the same unit making the addition of a hobby receiver and servos unlikely. Spare parts will be nil also. But it is pretty to look at.

Countilaw thanks a lot for the response; that was the type of info I was looking for. It's 27.145 mhz but I'm presuming the specific protocol is more important than the frequency, right? I think I'll put my effort and money into getting a complete unit and leave this guy as just a big truck toy.

It's possible it could work. But you wouldn't know until you tried it. Traxxas transmitters use the same format and protocols as Futaba. Where as a Futaba and Spectrum will not work together, but Spectrum and JR will. Hitec transmitters will not work with either. So you won't know until you try the two together.
