US Hobby shops
So I'm planning a road trip in January.
Dallas to Miami Florida then a few weeks later, Florida to Montreal Canada,
Any exceptionally good hobby shops worth visiting along the way?

Yes, I can imagine, but for an Aussie, seeing ice and snow on the roads is a real treat... if it gets down to 10 C (50F) in Sydney people complain about the cold weather.

I can't imagine anyone thinking seeing ice and snow on a road is a real treat? People are seriously injured and killed every year due to hazardous conditions caused by ice and snow on the roads in my city. Give your head a shake.

To actually answer your question, Mike's Hobbies in Dallas is a major one. http://www.mikeshobbyshop.com/index....d=18&Itemid=71
There are a couple in the St. Louis area if you are going through there.

I'll assess the conditions along the way and if the weather forecast looks iffy I'll fly instead.

Mike's is a great RC store, there are two other shops within 10 miles of Mikes
MAL Hobbies
http://www.malhobby.com/ Old neat store, mostly free flight and plastics
And a place packed floor to ceiling with just about everything; Wild Bills
https://plus.google.com/118332494230...ut?gl=us&hl=en
And while you're at Mikes your not too far from Squadron Mail order. One of the biggest plastic model distributers in the world. They don't have a store front but maybe if you call and tell them you're from down under they might let you visit.

Roy's hobby shop is outstanding imho. A real feast if you're an RC flyer. Roy's is in Hurst, Texas which is between Ft. Worth and DFW.

About 60 miles north of Miami (and along the way) in Jupiter Florida is Legend RC. They are a great hobby shop run by a father and son team. Get off I-95 on indiantown road (exit 92 I believe) and head east about 3 miles or so.

+2 on Graves here in Mickey Mouse town. It is ugly but it has everything. If you can't find it anywhere else Old Graves have it. It is also tricky to get there but the best way is 408W to john young parkway, left at Orange Blossom Trail and it is on your rt. you have to make a U turn.

I have some friends from down under and they explain how well some of your Hobby Shops are stocked and the kind of help that's available in Aussieland. I seriously doubt that you will find any shops that well equipped here in the States to compare favorably with what you may be used to down under.....

I have visited Ultimate Hobbies in Los Angeles many times and it is quite good, as is Pacific coast hobbies. Have spent lots of time in the west but this is the first decent trip to the east coast.
