Back in the 1960's Whamo Toy company made Boomerangs from fiberglass (that's fibreglass for you Rob ). They were outlawed by 1970 as too dangerous but they were the real deal. I had one and you could throw it 75 yards before it made it's turn. I got pretty good at it to where I could catch it on the return every time. I kind of wiish they still made them but it went the way of lawn darts and steel skate wheels.

And yes, they are left and right handed. I am a lefty but learned to throw my boomerangs with the right hand otherwise they would spin the wrong way and not come back.

OK so maybe a moulded synthetic structural material with a moulded in 2.4 Rx and 270 mah battery pack and a single servo all in the slightly deepened center section. Moulded in very thin pushrod wire bent through 90 degrees internally leading to tiny spoilers sort of in the way Jack Northrup came up with drag rudders for his wings near the tip.
Now it would be necessary to come up with a computer of sorts perhaps a gyro that would apply control imputs in cyclical manner just like a helicopter as the rotation around the vertical axis would apply and reapply the control imput each revolution.
Don,t ya think, Oh doing a 360 or maybe two 180's left and right on a single flight would be cool. That might be just as exciting as the first time Yall ever pushed a button or wiggled a toggle and the airplane responded. Remember those magic moments?
Ya, I know I will behave and heading back to the bench now, had three neato flights this morning so got my fix.
