Default Building help please!!!!!!!giant big stick arf. Stop me from killing myself!!!

Building Giant big stick arf! Trying to join elevator to stabilizer. The stabilizer slots for the hinges are not cut enough to come close to sliding hinges in half an inch, ive tried a traight razor, hobby knife, etc and cannot do it. Im close to cutting with a dremmel thin cut rotary blade but i thing that would be overkill!! Any ideas to do this before i kill myself???Thanks for any help/responses

Ck out a tool by Dubro called a hinge slotter tool. I have used one for many years with excellent results. Dubro web site has a description of the tool.

I always use a broken off hack saw blade to enlarge the slots. Works great and leaves the perfect gap for epoxy.

all the responses so far are all great... definitely DON'T use CA hinges, (although you haven't mentioned if you're fitting CA hinges or proper pinned plastic hinges.. I suspect the latter)
with pinned hinges, I've had great luck using a small (~ 1/32") drill in a pin vise, drilling at either end of the hinge slot...
then it's a simple matter of using an Xacto knife to remove the remaining piece of balsa (drilling the holes leaves only a piece of balsa with the grain going in the same direction as you're cutting)

hope that helps!
