Well done Flyer. That club is up in Belgium somewhere. Note the flat landscape. It looks like they allow ailerons in their competition. A lot more ARTFs in evidence too.

Thanks! I couldn't read the site but I could get a feel for what the links were. It was fun to see so many flyers having good time!

Mmmmm! I'm tempted to go up there and show them how it's done! There are two Belgians in my local club perhaps I can persuade them to go! But it's not the real Coupe Des Barons! How many participamts can you count and how many built their own models?

The only way I could get Mick's to the field is to straddle it and ride it there!

For those who are interested they have released the photographs recording the 2018 Coupe Des Barons. They are still working on the video. Scroll down to Photos Coupe 2018 to view. http://saffiotipatrick.wixsite.com/vl38/les-barons

There are a couple of pictures of my model in flight but I don't have the skills to transfer them. Let's try doing it this way. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...JxckJtdzV0Y1BB

That seemed to work! The other model in the picure is that of Iris Fesquet one of the fourteen year-old twins I mentioned above.

I see that there was one other Coupe first-timer who finished in ninth position in the overall results. Anyone with a higher Baron number than mine must have been a debutante too and yesterday I managed to persuade two brothers from my club to enter the next Coupe Des Barons. Though twenty years younger than me they're old school who build and repair their own models and they already have two Barons, one of which is finished in RAF colours. With minor alterations their models could conform to the Coupe's rules.

They're both good looking lads who live with much younger women, lucky types,(!) and though the one is obviously rather older than the other, I'm for ever getting them mixed up! First sign of senility?

Can't wait for the video!

As mentioned previously, what a gorgeous site! I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation. I couldn't help but laugh at all the carnage at the limbo event, although I wouldn`t be too amused if that were my plane.

I suppose that those of us who compete in such a potentially destructive competition should regard our models as disposable. Having said that I'm getting increasingly attached to mine!

There were fewer collisions this year but over 60% of the models were damaged during the event, some beyond economical repair, but at least those unfortunates have an entire year in which to build a replacement and the Baron 1914 is cheap and easy to build.

Incidentally the results of the event have been published and the pilot with the extremely fast model referred to above in 5995 won the pylon race having completed 63 circuits. Only two other pilots managed to achieve 50 or more. The same man won the entire competition. 07b7fd_f22a68c6ea8b496b810d9ae7c841e152.pdf

He does resemble a guy I saw on that Most Wanted show on TV last night. They showed his picture on a flyer posted in the a post office.

FlyerinOKC ; The pictures you put up are the same plane, just about 20 + years newer I'd guess . It has also had some up dates that mine doesn't have . I put an electric in mine and tried it this week, didn't go well. Not enough motor, battery and prop . Didn't get enough takeoff speed to lift off and I know what happens to this plane if you try to jerk it off or on landing let it get to slow and make a turn. Guess I'll just hang it up and see if I get a little interest sometime before I go . LOL Shame,! I did Enjoy it back when Red .

We held our glider weekend last weekend. This is a picture, taken at the end of the event, of some of those who participated, others had already left for home.

I overheard a converstion later on where the gentleman fourth from the right in the black shorts, said that he was ninety-five years old. Still flying, still driving too, nice new Peugeot estate car in white.

I was too young to remember what influenced me the most but my guess would be the cropdusters that flew around and over my home in my young days, Could not keep my eyes away from. I have a picture of me at 3 yrs old with all my toy airplanes around me. First balsa build was a guillows SE-5.

Having made lots of preparations for the Glider Weekend, like erecting two marquees, we decided to hold a barbeque, note the prevalence of members in full dress uniform, pale blue club tee shirts. Then on the Saturday night we held a dinner and dance for the wider community.

I am only a few hours away, what do you imply?

Moving there is out of the question, too many storms pass thru there, I will probably move further west.

I am not sure what your problem is! if the butyrate is compatible just brush it on. You did sand the primer smooth..right?

I have two planes in primer but I was told that butyrate dope would not be compatible with enamel primer. I Don;t want to apply the dope and ruin the primer job that I have already done.
