Thank you for the offer Flyer but I already have a Senior Telemaster and a Telemaster 66.

Concerning the smaller one, I managed to get the original Merco 35 to run in a test stand but could not get it to run in the model, so yesterday I decided to change the engine. I had an SC 32 earmarked to take over but when I offered it up to the model, the silencer fouled the fuselage. I brought down a box containing all of my spare two stroke engines and while I was at it an OS 48 FS as well. I offered four of them up to the model and rejected them all for one reason or another. Then I fitted an Enya SS40. Eureka! No trouble at all. It is an old engine which I picked up for a song on eBay without a carburetor. I managed to get a new carburetor from Steve Webb Models in England, the type with needle valve which slopes backwards. I had some difficulty starting the engine this morning until I replaced the existing glow plug with a new one. It then ran perfectly. I hope to fly the model for the first time tomorrow in nearly twenty years.

I suspect that that was all that was wrong with the Merco. It's going on eBay nonetheless! .

Thank you! Unfortunately we are getting good at this my mother in-law passed 1/4/2016. She nearly made it to 93 and my Mom would have been 90 on April 29th.

Forget it Pope! No harm, no foul, you just lighten things up a bit with your banter. No offense was taken, apology not necessary but accepted. We know inside your a good egg. As they say downunder I consider you my mate.

Hay OKC will you be doing a thread on the build and if so are you going to scale it out ? looks like it would be a good one to do.

I am planning on it but I have a DR-1 and a Cessna 182 to finish first and I was planning on doing at least one Ryan SC-W after that. If I can swing it I want to go ahead and get the retracts for it. I am going with the Robart set for the TF Bonanza except substituting the nose gear for a belly/firewall mount unit. That adds another $25 to a set price of $400. The nose gear mounts squirrelly on this design. Same guy built a Baron that is built and setup about the same just two engines. Still I go into shock every time I see a Top Flite kit for sale. Limey Bob down in Texas cuts the short kit and for a few extra bucks prints the plans out for you. I should be able to pick up the package today. I want to compare Robart's gear drawing to the plans.

Mike

Hello. First, let me introduce myself. I am Jananne Settle (I am not over 50). I am Greg Settle's (who was 70) daughter. My dad died in July 2016 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He died peacefully so I find comfort in that.

My dad was an excellent engine machinist and Control Line enthusiasts for 50+ years!!!. He won 1st place at the AMA 1999 Nats 1/2A Profile Proto. He also modified engines by replacing steel bearings with ceramic ones.

I am going through his workroom (the entire basement) and have a lot of used
items ranging from Control Line engines, parts, and accessories.

I will be posting classifieds and would love for these items to end up in the hands of those who will value them. It's important to me that my dad's legacy live on with others making use of his inventory.

If you have any suggestions, questions or comments I love to hear from you. If by chance you knew my dad and have a funny story to share, please do!

Sincerely,
Jananne Settle

PS - Here are a few pics of my Dad

Greg with his Pulse Jet engine...He had a need for speed!

Hi, Jananne! I'm guessing it's pronounced Jan-anne? I'm sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I lost my dad 11 years ago this June. I wish you well with the sale of your father's equipment.

Hi Jananne, sorry to hear of your loss.

As for your dad's stuff, if you were to put the same post on this website, you could provoke quite a bit of interest: https://www.rcgroups.com/vintage-and...r-designs-209/ or this one, https://www.rcgroups.com/control-line-63/ .

I did not fly with my dad. I was able to do photography for him at various contests though. My dad was also an avid hunter and reloader and when I was young I went shooting with him and hung out at the local gun shop. For the longest time, I though a jackalope was real

Those Fox engines were something in their day and the older McCoys were pretty good too.
