We had some strong winds last week. I had planned to dig over the beds in the poly tunnel when the storm arrived. Too windy for flying anyway!
Today, however, has dawned gloriously, it also happens to be my birthday. I've got a few bureaucratic things to sort out this morning, this is France after all, and then I'll go flying in the afternoon. I plan to maiden the club's latest ARTF trainer now that I've been made up to Chief Flying Instructor (Mode 2.)

Thank you gentlemen for your best wishes.
I had a very nice day yesterday. The weather was warm and sunny, tee-shirt weather, it's normally cold and windy on my birthday. My new keyboard arrived to replace the one which I managed to destroy by spilling half a (very large) glass of Morgon over it! Oh the waste! I drove to Bonnat to clarify something relating to the house purchase. I had to wait until 10.00 as the lawyer's office was only open from 10.00 to 12.00 on a Saturday! This is France after all! The banks are not open at all on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays! Can you believe it? Fortunately Credit Agricole's Britline, up in Normandy where I have my account, is open on Monday so I will be able to affect a transfer then.
After dealing with that minor bureaucratic problem, it was on to La Chatre up the dead straight Route National, to check out the price of ride-on motor mowers as I'll need one on my new 4000 square metre property. I had lunch in the open air at a restaurant I've been to before, smoked salmon salad, Sauvignon Blanc and because it was my birthday, a pudding. The waitress remembered me. She likes to improve her English so we had a discussion about the difference between "filling" and "filing." One of her colleagues knocked my wine glass over as she passed my table. She brought me another one. I bought some eau de Cologne from a shop which is both a hairdressers and a parumerie. When told the price I asked the owner what the feminine for "robber" was in French but bought it anyway! It was after all my birthday. She gave me a ten per cent discount.
Then it was back to the flying club to test-fly the club's new trainer aircraft which I had assembled. I found the boys sitting around in the sun drinking beer. We would have done the same at Forton except that we would have drunk tea; alcohol being banned from the flight-line in Shropshire. I had flown the model the previous day but had found it very sensitive. I had omitted to programme-in any exponential! Me and computers eh! So with that sorted out and the engine fine-tuned, I tried to take off. The model ran off the runway. This happened twice. Puzzled, I had a close look at the model. Like most ARTF trainers it has a tricycle undercarriage with a steerable nose-wheel. I had connected the nose-wheel the wrong way round so that when I used the rudder to steer left, the nose wheel steered the model to the right. With that corrected I had two uneventful flights with both landings smack on the 10 metre-wide tarmac runway. How I'd ever got it into the air the previous day I can't say! After two beers with the lads it was home for a change of clothes and shower before walking to Aigurande as it was Annie's Bar's birthday too. It's only 3 kilometres according to the road signs but it's probably nearer 5 to Annie's. Chris Willis's trio was on top form, he has some lovely high-notes which I could not even hope to hit these days, mind you he is only half my age! After two litres of Guinness I walked back home. I timed myself. It took me 45 minutes and so to bed. Will go in to Aigurande for their Sunday full English breakfast later on. I may use the van this time..

Telemaster Sales,
Happy belated Birthday to you and I do hope that it was a good one. I celebrated mine on March 8th but it was no fun for me as my favourite sister in law passed away on that same morning after a fairly short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Karolh you have my sympathies. I've heard that pancreatic cancer is merciless and painful and that death often occurs very rapidly after diagnosis. I hope your sister in law didn't suffer too much.
My father died on Christmas Eve 1981 so I know all about anniversaries bringing back both pleasant and unpleasant memories at the same time. He was only 62.

Sorry to hear about your sister died from Pancreatic Cancer. Two weeks ago my wife was rushed to the hospital. She was found to have colon cancer when they did an Endoscope and a Colonoscopy, at the same time. Today they operated on her and removed 24 in. of her colon. They also found that the cancer was also in her lymph nodes. They give her 3 to 6 months to live. She only 68
In April of 2014 I had a 5 Cm tumor removed from my brain. 3 months after that I had 45 treatments of radiation for Prostate Cancer, I got from Agent Orange in Vietnam. The ironic thing, the cancer was caused to come alive because the Dr. at the VA in July of 2010, gave me 6 months of Testosterone shots. I had a problem with my prostate for 10 years, it was slightly enlarge, and my PSA was always just under 3. Right after I finished the shots my PSA started to rise and my prostate grew. in 2013 after my second biopsy they found cancer in my prostate. I had 5 Urologist tell me that you don't get Testosterone if your PSA is above normal.

My condolences to all those who have lost loved ones . My mother in law's partner had pancreatic cancer and was one of the very few who managed to beat it . Even the various health professionals say u sure u dont mean prostate cancer . I dont know the survival rate but it doesnt sound good .
My son was born on the same day that my father died which also was my wedding anniversary . Talk about mixed emotions that day .Funny ( not an appropriate word I know ) but my friends father died on his birthday . Must happen more than we think . Best wishes from the pope .

Thanks, some time in the near future you will hear about a national organization and the FBI who Hacked my phone and computer, for almost a year. ABC 20/20 is working on it. All the modelers should watch it.
