Hi Guys!
Flyer ...................................... I am surprised the FP and LA engines are popular I have found them to be rather low on the longevity poll not to mention their reduce power. none the less I am happy controline is seeing a resurgence, my bet is the FAA rules is the reason.
When I made the decision to stay here (TEXAS) I didn't realize how it would keep me away from that cold fluffy stuff that falls from the sky and that suits me just fine. it gets hot as hell here sometimes but we don't have to shovel it out of our way

Yesterday was the first warm dry day we have had all year, so went out and surveyed my 5 acres. I have a dozen trees to take down, fencing to repair, fields to rejuvenate(easy part), and ground to flatten. Well, I ordered fencing material, $240, got tree felling/trimming stuff, $300, and a Rough cut mower, $886. Expensive weekend. I also ordered the stabilizers for my trailer along with a hitch holder that attaches to the frame to put my WDH and lock it so I don't have that greasy thing in the under storage. That was another $400. I also had to replace the shocks on my truck, $109. I still need to get a few semi loads of gravel for the drive.

I feel your pain. I just remodeled a bathroom with a good part of the labor provided by two of my daughters in-law. Those two ladies get after it! I haven't been quite up to snuff of late and they kept telling me go sit down we got this! My sons have chosen their wives well! Its next best thing to having them as daughters. I haven't replaced the tile on the floor as planned a $465 plumbing bill postponed that idea for a while.

Two blurred pictures of the Baron in flight yesterday with its Sledgehammer Wing, pilot and dummy wing warping wires but without either the engine cowling or machine gun both of which are compulsory for the competition.
I assembled and fitted the machine gun earlier today and posed the model for the camera. The cowling is just placed into position, I still need to make some minor adjustments to the engine before fitting the cowling.

I spent a lot of the day aeromodelling yesterday so will have to punish myself by cleaning house, gardening and having a haircut today!
Last night I replaced the engine in my ARTF Seagull Boomerang II Trainer. The old OS 40 FSR was a bit marginal so I decided to replace it with an Enya 45. However, when I opened the box in which the 45 was stored, I saw that I also had an Enya 50 with a Q Silencer so decided to fit that instead. The engine has a brass helicoil in the head for the glowplug. Is that standard or has some previous owner stripped the thread and made a repair? I don't recall running it before and I certainly haven't photographed it running on the bench but I plan to test it tomorrow.
Incidentally if anyone does a fair bit of tuition and is looking for an ARTF trainer, may I recommend the Boomerang. Its semi-symmetrical aerofoil enables you to fly it in a stiff breeze. The latest version, the Boomerang II, features a fully sheeted wing which makes it very tough albeit at the expense of a little extra weight. All this for 100€ ($122US.)

I was checking out the La Coupe Des Barons site yesterday and I notice something strange on pilot entry No. 75. There was a little asterisk by his name and according to Google translation I got the footnote said "Pilot suspected to be mentally unstable keep him away from the bar.". Sounds like some bad French humor on an obviously Anglo pilot.

It's entry No. 75 on this list! 07b7fd_5f153cd86fd94b80823b53308d986716.pdf
I'm amazed by the number of guys who sent in their entries just after midnight on 1st January! I had other things to do!

Went to the flying field this afternoon. It was a bit cold and windy but I started up the Enya 50SS and after a long time adjusting it to get the carburetion something like right, I flew the Boomerang trainer. It went very well. I don't think that the engine has done much work so I look forward to flying it a bit more and getting the best out of the engine. The only problem was that the exhaust is lined up directly with the wing so it chucked all the detritus over the wing and starboard fuselage side!

It's difficult to fit a silicone tube over the Q silencer because there isn't much of a tailpipe on it and as for the cleaning products you mention, they're not available in France. I'll see if I can fit an aluminium tube inside the silencer and fit a silicon tube onto it.

Being a smart @$$ runs in the family!
Yesterday I turned 60 and No. 3 grandson James (4 years old and grandpa's little buddy) decided he needed to pick out a present for grandpa. He knows I like airplanes so he latched on to this and wouldn't take No for an answer. No. 4 son Scott who gets married in June gave me this card.
