For a while I thought i was alone in having lots of things going on. A while back my step dad tried to get me going into silversmithing.
He does it in conjunction with making jewelry, he's an avid rock hound which i forgot to add to my list. I guess i should of added metal detecting since the detector is put away for the winter i neglected to add it.

My guess is, being an R/C guy, you will enjoy a flintlock. They take a lot of futzing to get right - but once you're set up and have the load and procedure down they are very reliable hunting arms. But you should be willing to accept that "klack" with dignity when an angel pees in your prime and it doesn't go off when you're sighted on that life-time buck. There is a reason folks went to centerfire rifles and, sooner or later, it is inevitable.
Two years ago I dug out my old 12 gauge slug gun (rifled Hastings barrel w/Williams sights) to try some Hornady SST sabot slugs a neighbor said I had to try. Smoikies! These use a .45 cal jacketed bullet at about 2,200 fps and with iron sights I was good on 6" targets out to 150 yards! Expensive, but real game changers.
The only centerfire rifle I use much is a little single-shot .223 with 4X Weaver I keep by the back door for coyotes and raccoons. We raise sheep, turkeys and chicken and have occasional marauders that need repelling.
