The list of all-time favorite rc airplanes.
I'd like this thread to be a list of
everyone's all-time favorite rc airplane.
I'm hoping that a lot of people will reply
so that this will become a good resource
of sure-fire winners that anyone can look
at and find their next great project or
acquisition.
I recognize that we have different preferences
and styles. Some of us like to fly fast, others
like scale, some sailplanes, some electric,
some various fuels, etc. Our choices of
favorites will reflect that, and its OK. If
someone else has already listed "your" favorite,
that's OK too. You can go ahead and list it
again. It is after all your favorite. I
suspect there will be several "votes" for
popular planes such as Sig Astro Hog.
Of course the hardest part will be choosing
a single airplane, but that is what will make
this list so good. If you select the one that
rises above all others for you, for whatever
reason you have, it will surely be a plane that
someone else will also enjoy.
What I desire for entries here is a single
airplane name, with enough detail to discern
the particular design. For example Sig 1/4
Scale Clipped Wing Cub and NOT Piper Cub.
Submit an airplane you have flown, regardless
of who built it, or owned it, or if it is
still flying or being manufactured. (Old plans
kits and arfs are still out there waiting for us.)
A picture would be a nice addition if
you have one and desire to include it.
A link would also be helpful if you desire,
but if you don't, we all can find out
more with an online search engine.
What I'd like to keep off the list, is
whining about how you can't choose one
favorite. The thing that will make this
list good it that it will only have the
best of the best airplanes.
We also don't really need to know why it
is your favorite. That you chose it tells
enough, so you don't need to prove that your
choice is valid.
Finally this is the favorite AIRPLANES list.
That means what it sounds like, not rotary
wings, derigibles, ornithopters, powered
parachutes, kite type hang gliders, etc.

Chuck Cunningham 62" Lazy Ace. I had it for 12 years. I started out with a Rossi 60 on it. The last 6 years I made a fake radial engine using 10 A123 batteries. It flies 6 minutes on a charge. I am going to have to replace the bearings in the Scorpion motor soon.

Multiplex Mentor. Extra big high wing foamy, extremely versatile. Great sport and trainer plane.
Parkzone Radian. Best overall fun in an inexpensive unpretentious glider. Thankfully being updated and soon to be sold again.
Senior Telemaster. Gentle giant, my candy and confection connection.

Probably a Fly Baby mono or bipe.
I notice from the previous replies, that people like "good-natured" aeroplanes ... the ones that don't bite ... as well as simple aeroplanes.
No-one has yet included a multi, with retracts and a vicious taper (Mosquito springs to mind).

I have similar tastes, although I prefer the Sig Kadet Senior Sport. I've had two of the ARF versions, along with a Sport built from a kit.

Well trying to list only one plane is very very hard to do. How about listing one for each type of category? Maybe by size and type?
For small 1/2a planes it is very hard to beat an Ace Mach None. Simple and a great flying plane.
In the 20 size I would say it was an Airtronics Jetfire 20. Similar to a Ugly stick but a little more refined. Fantastic flying plane.
In the 40 sized I would say the Goldberg Jr Tiger has to be the all time best plane. Well for me any way.
In the 60 sized I would say the Goldberg Super Chipmunk. Also the Tiger 60. There are so many great flying planes in this size. Would be very hard to limit to just one.
I have 2 gliders that I would have to list together. The Marks Models/Dynaflite Wanderer and the Dynaflite Talon. Both were great flying planes.

Favorite plane
My all time favorite is the Sig Something Extra. I have owned three of them and really like the flight characteristics especially the ability to land relatively slowly. Being easy to repair was a really big help to me during my learning phase.

There are a few on my list.
1. This one isn't even close. Any size Ultra Sport. Modified with flaps or not. This plane is my all time favorite plane no holds barred.
2. This one will have a few people scratching their head, but anybody that's had one will know what I mean. Great Planes Slow Poke. I had one with an OS 52 4-Stroke engine on it that had well over 700 fights before I had to retire it because the frame got so fuel soaked it just couldn't fly anymore. I've got an itch to try a wild idea to one day blow up the plans and build a 50cc sized Slow Poke, could be really interesting!!!

That's my top 3. I have a list of many many more that I have enjoyed, and I am still enjoying to this day. But when we start listing out favorites these are the ones that rise to the top for me!!!!
