One reason for Airtronics pullout may be that the USA is the only country that uses 72 mhz while the rest of the world doesn't! I think they use 30 - 40 Mhz.
As such we may not have been their biggest customer so it would make sense if that is the case they are going shift their focus elsewhere...

I don't think Airtronics had sold 72mhz equipment for a while now. They pulled out because they chose to stop innovating and competing. They put out one last nice but already obsolete radio 6 years ago with the SD10G, then just waited for the market to move on from them.
