OS Gemini 120 series one
I was asked to sell a spare os Gemini series 1 120 twin to a fellow I have been flying with for the last 20 years.I didn`t want to because he only knows one speed and that's flat out. It was for a large cub, so after much coercion, I relented after explaining you can't drop the oil content even though it is a twin and also you definitely can't run the engine flat strap. I sold it to him at half price and it lasted 2 weeks he blew a con rod ,but since he is an engineer he machined two more up .I said let that be a lesson to you your pushing the motor too hard.
Next time he flew the model he put it into a turn dropped the nose slightly and opened her up ,about 5 seconds later dead silence, this time he snapped the crank.
As parts are non-existent is there anyone that produces parts or can produce parts for these motors ,as he gave me all the bits back.
Any advice on getting this old motor going would be greatly appreciated

Didn't you say you sold the engine? You also stated your "friend" is an engineer... that fabricated 2 con rods... which tells me he might do well at a crank-shaft... and if not... didn't you say you sold it? (yes... I ask again..).. Wow man. Cut the losses.. take(or keep, or collect) the money and run!! Find another little jewel somewhere on the market, and never sell it again... It sounds like you didn't even get close to any "I don't want to sell it" price.. hmm... I fail to see any problem except for letting go. Its a done deal.
You really don't want an engine that already has con-rod issues(who knows if he even made them, sounds like a stretch really here...)... and if he did.. they might themselves be a ticking time bomb... The engine has issues if it was indeed ran like you said... by an engineer that apparently has no regard to an engine and how to reasonably run it.... and.... he's flying a Cub!!! Not a race plane... not a scale warbird... not an aerobat that gets tossed around the sky... A Cub... ha.. Sorry about that.. I would simply say.. let him keep it, and somehow make things square. I hope he's not a great close friend.. and even so... I mean no disrespect...I seriously wouldn't say anything different at our flying field with any of my friends standing right there.... they know me well though... haha..(other then the chuckle you can't here..) just take it in stride. Good luck. I wish you and your OS Gemini the best.

I've known him for 20 yrs, he did manufacture two new con rods and have the motor running but said it was too big a job to do the crank ,I just thought I would try and get it running again.
looks like its a bin job
