Flying Chair
A while ago I remember seeing an article about building a flying chair, you sat in this chair and it had a stick and rudder like a vintage plane. The controls were linked to the sticks on a radio so you could fly your model like it was a real plane. My club would like to build one for educational purpose, anyone see this contraption?

Flying Chair
When you first mentioned a "Flying Chair", something very different came to mind! this sounds very intriguing. It would be a blast for an open house situation where you could let kids have a turn. Maybe you could combine it with an onboard video camera with a screen in front of the chair.
Does the chair have a drink holder and magazine rack? Just wondering.

Flying Chair
I have seen a magasine article many moons ago
and again a couple years ago
i do not remember the mags name but will check my notes
just for fun
the chair was mounted on a swivel base and a copilot had to turn
it so the pilot faced the plane.
the controls were connected to a regular tx via rods and cables
the latest version I saw was using also a tv down link

Flying Chair
We used to have a club member that flew from his electric buggy, it worked ok till he was at the Sandown show and flew behind him self, he was shouted commands to stop the plane from hitting the grandstand till it came back into the flying area

I DID find THIS website-for a MODERN version of the "Fly Seat"...!!!!!!!!
Dear Fellow RCU'ers:
The PIPE Here yet AGAIN...and under my bookmark menu links entitled "Unusual RC Accessories", I have LONG had this link...
http://www.ifcrc.com/
...for the Interactive Flight Concepts company on my home PC, and FINALLY, here's the IDEAL thread to post it in!
This "New Millenium Fly Seat", in all its versions, seems to have just about EVERY option covered...fixed wing controls, be they joystick or yoke...and even a HELI collective setup for rotary wingers!
The PRICES seem to be up in the FOUR FIGURE STRATOSPHERE for those "all built up" ones, but check out the photos AT that site...perhaps those Ed Henry "Fly Seat" drawings could be UPDATED a bit to make something that looks and WORKS just as well-or perhaps even BETTER-as that company's all-built units do!
Just thought I'd mention THAT site link I posted in this reply-it sure DOES fit into this thread perfectly!
Yours Sincerely,
The PIPE!

Flying Chair
This thread title reminded me of a guy some years ago that had strapped himself and small weather type balloons to his lawn chair and took off, gained apparently significant altitude, enough to get the attention of the FAA. Used a BB pistol to pop the balloons as needed and returned to earth...alive.
