What operating system are you using? What version of Outlook express is it? XP keeps the address book in the Documents and Settings folder. If you have a earlier version of Outlook, before 6.0, you could download the latest Internet Explorer/Outlook from Microsoft. That would repair the Outlook problem. You could also look through Add/Remove programs, depending on the operating system you may have a 'repair' option.

Try the repair option in add/remove programs. You could also do a system restore, just pick a day before your addresses disappeared. If this thread gets closed down, because it isn't RC related, sign up over at www.pcmech.com ,and post the question there. It is an excellent technical forum.

www.techsupportboard.net is another forum that might be of assistance. Hope you find an answer at one of these sites. As Deadeye mentioned, this is not RC related, so I'll be closing this one.
