Default Bet ya ain't seen nothin like this before

I took my new GSP.com G 202 out for it's maiden voyage today. Taxied out and pointed her in the wind. Checked the surfaces one last time and started pushing the throttle. After about 30 ft the plane jerked to the right. I killed the throttle and it nosed over. Below is a picture of why. This was a brand new Dubro wheel. The only thing I can figure is the wheel came off the hub and caught the wheel pant. This blown out tire is the only damage.

Default Wheel

I thought I could just barely see " Firestone " written on the tire.

Ya know, you're right. I've never seen that happen before except on the foam tires. Glad there was no damage to your plane.

WOW, 19 years of flyin and using Dobro tires and I've never seen that before.....
Do the wheels spin freely or were they a tight fit on the axle

Default Flat tires

I have never seen a tire do that on a model plane. My freind's tire came off the rim on his Carden 26% extra one time when landing, we were lucky to find the tire, & he CA'd the tire to the rim so it wouldn't happen again.

The wheels were as free as the wind. No binding anywhere. I sent this picture to Dubro. I'm just glad it didn't throw me into the fencepost I had just past.

Mike,
Did it cause a roll over?? Should we be looking for a class action lawsuit against Dubro? I hear they use old Bridgestone rubber for their wheels.....

Glad you came out on scathed tho....

Mike, Nope. Never seen that before.
I did have an interesting landing once though. I'm comin' in real nice and greasy. Just as the mains touch the tail begins to drop. Then I see something roll away from my plane. Then another. Both main wheels rolled right of the axles and my plane came to a screaching halt in the hard-packed rocky dirt. Prop bit the ground when the tail subsequently came up. End of prop. I guess I should have ground flat spots for the set screws. Lots of cheers after that one!

Default Dubro's Customer Service !

I sent Dubro a picture of the wheel with a descriptioin of what happened. Got an email from Terry at Dubro today:

It looks like the tire was not fully cured.Email me your address and I will ship you a new pair.
You can't beat that! That's what I call customer service. Needless to say I sent him my address!
