Do I have too many planes?
Cleaning out my garage the other day and I took this pic.
Is that too many? I'll let you guess what my wifes opinion on the subject is.
Not included in the pic is a Lanier Dominator that I have yet to complete, and the Dave Patrick Ultimate 120 that DP has yet to ship to me.
I'd love to see some pics of other peoples collections!!

Scott, thanks. He's a good boy, but I gave him an unfortunate name for a dog that usually comes with me to the flying field: Rex.

Is this part of the recovery process, you know; Step 1: admit previous airplane wrong-doings....Step 2:.....

19 left behind? I think that means that you need to work on crashing tham a little harder.
In that pic there are 6 flyable planes: The Ultra Stick, the Funtana, the HyperWing, the small Cub, the Super Impress and the Funny Park. I need to get started on the Javelin, and the Ultimate will be built after that.
The Sukhoi (yellow, black and white wing) is a pet project that I have had in the works for a couple of years now. The "Big Mac" was payment for fixing a guys plane at the club. It'll probably never fly. The red white and blue Extra (behind Rex) was a great flyer, and my best kit-built to date. The firewall de-laminated one day, mid flight. I didn't notice until I had safely landed and picked it up to bench it when the cowl/wheels fell off. I have no idea how it made it home. Anyway, I can't trash it but I know that I'll never fix it.
The Top Cap belongs to mhawker now. Traded with engine (OS50SX) and servos for a re-furbished YS63. The big Cub needs work, but I'll get to it eventually, probably, maybe . . .

RE: Do I have too many planes?
This is a joke right? I've been back in the hobby for 2 years and have 6 models. They are all airworthy, and I'm thinking about the next project. It's gonna be a biplane of some sort. Right now I'm leaning pretty heavily toward an GP Ultimate.

Too many planes .... no way .... no such thing.
If the basement/garage gets too full, there are plenty of storage units for rent.
If you can't find any to rent .... I'll store some for you.

I would have to say that I like your dogs name, but that's just "my" opinion!
No more room for planes, it's time to move to a bigger house!
Rex

Maybe I'm insane, but if I have one that just sits for a couple of years, I sell it. I have about four or five in good flying order and I don't really keep junk laying around. There are plenty of people who will gladly do minor repairs or trade for the "C" list. I build about two per year.

RE: Do I have too many planes?
He flys after tennis balls!
I'm on my third year in this hobby, so if you predict the number of planes I'll have in three more years I'll definately need a bigger house. Especially if you take into account the rate of accelerated accumulation, and decellerated loss. My first year I had a total of 4 planes and wrecked 3 (the small Cub is the only survivor). My second year I got 6 more and lost 2, and my 3rd year I got 8 more and lost 1. At this rate I'll probably end up with several thousand planes by the time I die!!

RE: Do I have too many planes?
My Dad and I have different opinions on this. His is that we have too many when we have trouble finding a place to store them. Mine is simpler. You can't have too many!
