RCU bandwidth, views and website statistics for you stat junkies...
Interesting RCU statistics. I was looking through our logfiles for our 3 front end servers and was blown away by the size these grow to each day. We produce 3 logfiles which are EACH 2 GB (gigabytes)! That is a total of 6GB of log data daily.
We are moving well over a terabyte (1000GB's) of data each month to users desktops.
I have some visitor stats from the last 9 days which show 151,780 unique visitors to RCU during this period.

On this metric "Average Length of Session (HH:MM:SS) 654 "
what does the number mean. It doen't fit the format.

yes...it is 56GB per day. that doesn't include a couple GB's each day from our ad server at a separate facility.
the hh:mm:ss didn't come through right when I exported stats to a text file for some reason. The number is in seconds. It is actually almost 11 minutes

Actually it looks like we are closer to 1.5 terabytes run rate lately (1500GB/month). At the current 40-45GB/day total plus another couple of GB from our ad servers each day we are fast approaching the 2 terabyte per month level total transfer. We did over 60GB on Feb 10th. I think our servers can probably handle about 3x the traffic they are taking now and the bandwidth provisions are far greater. This time I planned properly for quick expansion!

I propose the we all pitch in and buy a couple supercomputers for ourselves to run RCU.
Marc, so when are we gonna start pulling a terabyte a day? And just for curiosity, about how much does this site cost for a year?

WOW!!!! These numbers are truly amazing!!!!!![:-][:-][:-]
Now I see why it takes those highly expensive computers to make a server........56GB a day??? That's twice what I have in my HD.......WOW!!!!
Congrats to RCU team and thank you for making this available for free.

wOOt! Has RCU considered other types of advertising? iec sales/upgrades or other such objects
Numbers like that should attract all types of retailers. I mean most of us are techy people right? I wouldn't be bothered by a Dell or EA Games ad in the corner/banner. I know that the online advertising market went to poop but PC's, electronics, video games, and other fun toys still spend $$ on it. Most of us are all right in there sales market.
Just my .02
